Help me figure out this braid

I really love this braid Lauren Conrad(?) wore but I have no idea how to do it.

Of course it also looks like something that would just look so messy with my hair and have the potential to tangle up horribly. But it looks so pretty, I want to try it.

looks like a regular braid and you just gently pull pieces up to make it messy.
