Problem with my twist outs

When does this shedding occur? How long do you keep them in? Could you give a little more detail? I know some people wear twistouts for a week or more at a time; so when you get to wash day, you will have to deshed all of the hair that has accumulated. It is normal for you to have a lot of shed on wash day if you are wearing a style that does not allow daily combing. Or if you have thrown out the comb like many of us, then on wash day will generally appear to lose alot of hair, but it's really the normal rate of shedding 100 hairs per day.

i wet my hair and put elasta qp recovery on it every night before i twist it into bantu knots, but as i wet i and start to twist it i see all these strands coming out. i dont use a comb at all. not even on wash day which is like once a week. I'm afraid to comb it because i have so much new growth and i think i might break all my hair off if i comb it. i always co wash and i deep condition and then i mixed my alphogee leave in and placenta leave-in in a bottle and put it on. i oil my scalp with wild growth and i let it air dry. once i air dry it i spray a little water on it and twist it. wut am i doing wrong?

I was going to say too much moisture, but now I'm not sure because you use the Aphogee leave-in & the Placenta leave-in. The bolded part of your post really sticks out to me b/c my hair used to break a lot when I'd spray water on each individual section of my hair before twisting it. When I stopped doing that, my breakage decreased a lot (and this was before I started using protein).

I know that you said you were experiencing shedding, not breaking; I'm just thinking aloud.

Also, maybe airdrying isn't for you. I know a lot of ladies have problems with airdrying.

Oh, it sounds like you are relaxed. I originally thought u were natural. With that said, so many more things factor in w/the relaxed hair, like protein, over/underprocessing, demarcation line (very weak point of hair), etc. I think relaxed hair is so unpredictable and hard to diagnose that someone else better chime in on this one. My experience w/relaxed hair is that it would mysteriously fall out-- in sections-- -up to the root.
