this is what a dominican blowout looks like! they are a ridiculous amount of heat. y'all shouldn't be so shocked!

& remember, this is a BKT. to lock in the results, you've got to do multiple passes on each section of hair with a flat iron 450 degrees or hotter. the lower the temp iron, the more passes you've got to do. standard procedure.

as for her nape, looks like she's growing out a tapered cut.

the results turned out nicer than i'd expected, given the comments. too much heat for me, though. but sheesh! you guys are sounding like she's getting her hair deep fried. this is what a blowout looks like!!

Man the only thing I could think about(including the damage the operator was doing) is the fumes that they were both ingesting. I could have sworn that I saw the client holding her hand over her mouth and nose while the operator was blow-drying her hair. I hope to god it wasn't a formula containing formeldahyde (sp).

I was thinking the same thing. In the haircare industry one of the health issues with just the hairstylist is lung problems up to and including lung cancer.

Even without BKT dealing with inhalation of fumes on a regular basis is not a good thing. Should always have a good air cirulation system going.

I think her hair is suppose to smoke:look: All the BKT's videos i watch there is some kind of smoke coming off the hair, especially when flat ironing. Also your suppose to go threw it so many times to seal in the keratin(flat iron).

I think a tiny bit of smoke is alright. I BKT my mom's hair last night and the blowdryer did not smoke. Also I looked at the blowout video and the dryer smoked again. So I think it is the low quality of tools this salon use.

I swear the latin salons will do anyones hair, you have one strand come on in they'll rollerset that one strand lmao!!! I say latin because not all are dominican my spot in the bx were ecuadorian.

I really would not trust a latin salon to do a bkt, they are always too darn rushy with things. If I were to ever bkt i'd go to a upscale spot and make sure they take their time.

why would you bkt someones nape with a short cut why????
I wouldn't relaxed the nape washed that out etc, then did the bkt on the longer strands only.

I saw in pinkskates bkt post that she mistakingly got some bkt on a small section of her scalp and she broke out. Imagine the potential side effects of this chick.

from the end result she should've just gotten an ultra perm lmao!!!!

whew.

UM....that wasn't a blowout. A Domincan blowout is a rollerset, and then they use the blowdryer or flat-iron to straighten your roots, if needed.

This was strictly a BKT application.

BKT requires 450 degrees to seal in the keratin. It smokes, even on healthy hair. And with afro hair, they recommend to try to smooth it well with the dryer first. It's not burned, it's moisture and aldehydes being released. Her hair is gummy and stiff in the end because she was a better candidate for a relaxer or texlax in the beginning so the bkt could smooth it further. Her kink pattern was very strong. And bkt's need roughly 4 days to cure before the wash. This girl's hair will never be silky and light without the relaxer first. I think it came out nice but the final wasn't a style, it was smoothed down for the curing process.

Here's another on short hair:

I really think she could have gotten that look without the BKT.
Is it a good idea hair-wise to have freshly relaxed hair, bleached highlights, and get a BKT?
