Ladies you all know I have 4 wonderful (Pain in the butt, but I'd have it no other way) sons.

In less than a month, I won't be able to breath, eat or do anything because I will be running my boys to sports. Holla to all the SPort moms on here it is a hard (yet pleasurable) job especially when you have more than one.

SO the question is,,,,, HOW are wigs in the summer, I am use to PHoney Pony's. BUT how are Wigs and LaceFronts are they hot, do you find them annoying, are the a pain, does the synthetic hair burn or shrivel with the excess heat?

Tips and advise for keeping cool. Thanks in advance.

Wigs are too hot in the spring/summer for me. I planned on braiding my hair next month but yesterday I noticed my wig is breaking off and thinning my edges.

^^^^ can you tell me what is happening to break off your edges? as I wear them too and would like to know what I shouldn't be doing. I find that the lace fronts scratch my head in the front (lace kinda hurts).

See I was afraid someone would say they were to hot, I can't imagine them not being, I guess I wanted someone to tell me no so I could have sweet dreams instead of the nightmares about what I am going to do with this hair in the summer.

Sounds like you already know that synthetic wigs don't do well in the summer heat. I love human hair wigs and prefer something long enough to pull into a low/undetectable ponytail/bun.

Lacefronts (maybe its just thick lace) also scratch the top of my head and cause irritation.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: Girl I found out somewhat by baking. I opened the oven and checked my hair later it was a little frayed looking, LOL!

I guess I will look into a human hair lace front and hopefully that would be cooler.

Shoot my wig was too hot in the winter! It was synthetic. What about a short weave, or curly weave. I friend of mine gets the front half of her hair conrowed, and then adds a few tracks in the back.

^^^ LOL. . . I had the exact same experience with the open oven door.

So I got myself another synthetic wig and even though it didn't fry quite as bad in the sun, it didn't hold up well. Plus I find them overall HOTTER than human hair wigs.

I wore wigs last summer (mainly half wigs) and it wasn't bad for me ... but then again we only had one really hot day here last summer :look:

^^^ ot: u HAVE SOME BEAUTIFUL HAIR.

I did that like 3 years ago with the half wigs, it seems the sythetic fibers in the lace fronts are different hmmm n (never had my half wigs fray, LOL). I just wanted to be ubber lazy and just toss this on without gelling my front!

Full wigs are too hot but short (above SL) half wigs are fine for me. I live in Barbados where its summer everyday LOL. I even baggy too and my hair IS NOT FUNKY AT ALL. I poke some pretty big holes in the plastic cap so there is ventilation and I still get the baggy effect :yep: I found too that the plastic is the best thing to protect my hair from rubbing against the lace inside the half wig :yep:.

I'm not 100% sure but maybe we can disect my mess together :yep:

I wear a baggie, covered by a nylon wig cap, half wig with headband. I do not use the wig combs to secure the wig, I use bobby pins. I do use the half wig as a whole head wig.

I'm wondering since the wig is not comb secure if the little bit of movement it has, is rubbing my edges right off? It could also be the band from the baggy, the nylon cap and the headband causing too much friction and rubbing my edges off?

You know what I found that when leaving my wig cap alone it was fine, but then I started Pulling it to get a tighter fit and wham, I was pulling up hair every time I picked up the cap, I was pulling my hair out! So that could be it, and headbands are guilty too, when I do the same. HUH!

It's been many years since I attempted to wear a wig in the summer time. I still have it (synthetic, MBL length, heavily layered, full regular wig), but it was too hot! I have 2 styles that are short (at neck or shorter), so they might do better. However, my hair is too thick and would just act like a blanket beneath the wig in summer.

Though I wear a mesh wig cap underneath my LF's, IDK how the overrall heat will work wit me wearing them in summer (it gets very hot and humid here from mid-late April through mid-Sept.). I am just planning to do crochet braids, drawstring ponies, wet buns/braidouts, and cornrows with extensions during summer to get by. I wish they weren't so hot, cuz if so I would wig it year round to grow my hair out!

I usually wear half wigs in the summer and I did not find them to be too hot. They were really comfortable. I put some flat braids in the front and then it doesn't bother me to sweat 'cause I'm not trying to blend or anything.

Nice Thread! Thanks Ladies......

I've been contemplating Wiggin' it this Summer and wondering how I will deal with the Heat.

Wanted a totally PS and not really wanted to Phony Pony/Bun this Summer.:perplexed

The Baggy method may be an option.

Too hot! I tried human light density lace fronts and half wigs last the summer and was miserable. I looked hot (and not in the fun way) in all of last summer's pictures. Never again! It'll be braids and buns for Summer 2010.
