my recipe was simple:

henna

1 cup of water

alma oil

africa's best herbal oil

vatika oil

coconut oil

i figured i dont really need anything acidic cause im letting it sit out for 24 hours and i just kinda went oil crazy cause im trying to get rid of the alma and vatika.it came into a nice yogurt consistency too..here's the result:

i will sleep in it overnight and wash in the morning!

Let us know how it turns out! How are you going to sleep on that without getting it all over the place?

i have on 2 plastic caps plus a bandana tied tight..also it "dries up" and kinda sticks to your hair..so it doesn't drip or anything.

The 1st time i henna'd my hair, to get it smooth, like really smooth, i used a hand held mixer on it. Hope that helps for the next time u do henna..

But your hair should feel wonderful! My hair felt like nothing could break it! Nothing!

I don't know if henna will serve a purpose without acid. Were you just using it for conditioning benefits? If you want color..at all, you must use an acid.

Your hair is really pretty.

I used henna to cover my gray and it worked fine with just water, no acid at all.

i really didnt care too much for color..just the conditioning benefits and as a natural protein treatment.

Hmmmm In the event that you do want color, I would probably cut down on the additives and add lemon juice or acv. I love henna, I hate how messy it is, but the benefits are worth it. I definitely notice the strength.

op, I know you don't care about color but you don't need the acid for color fyi
The acid can just be drying (unless you use lime instead of lemon, which is not so drying)
You just need henna and water.
However, all the oil you added probably prevented some color from taking...

Hope you like how your hair feels though! Your hair looks great!

thanks ladies..my hair did feel very manageable and soft once washed out. next time i will just do henna and water! i plan on doing this 1x a month

For Me it works "BEST" when I Tightly Wrap my Hair in Saran Wrap and then apply the Plastic Cap.:yep: The 'tightness' of the wrap helps with the color uptake (IMHO) But I see you are not interested in "Color"

Using Saran Wrap Really Helps. You may definitely want to try that next time.

You may want to try wiping off any residue from your face, ears, body, hands etc......

I have gotten mine down to a science where the 'mess' is minimal.

I hope you like the results.:yep: Keep us Posted.

Also, if you have a crappy towel, you might want to put it over your shoulders..........

I hate to disagree with you but if it is good quality BAQ henna then you dont need an acid. I used in the past just warm water. I now use coffee to tone down the red but I dont use an acid.

i liked the results..my hair feels strong and has a certain sheen to it..i think i can see a tad bit of some brown/reddish tint IN my puff

Glad you Like it MizzBrit!

ITA: I Love It! When used properly, it can be a Great Addition to your Hair Regimen.

Since I use it for both the Color and the Strengthening properities, for me, it has been far more superior than any bottled color. Be it: Semi, Demi, Permanent. Henna/Indigo far exceeds them. And the "Shine" is incredible.:lick:

Thanks! I tried it a couple of times with just water and although there was a little bit of color, it was a nasty orange color. I added the acid and got the full release and the color was more vibrant and warm. I will try it in btwn color with water for conditioning. Thanks again.
