I ain't put up no pics... but I've been half wigging it, and I remember thinking about 5 months ago or so how my bangs have finally grown in nicely, and are long and all that...

Well, now I look like I have thin, uneven bangs, because when you wear a half wig, you GOTTA do something with the hair in the front... and I have totally F*cked up my hair... in the FRONT of all places...

NOW what do I do?

What have you been doing to the front?

Going forward be sure to use styling methods for the leave out hair that doesn't require heat (if that is the culprit), for example braiding or pincurling.

My pincurls SUCK! I have never been successful with that... I have this ONE wig that looks like I did a braidout all over my head, so I try to do that to the front portion of my head...but it ends up sticking up and being all unruly... I'm scared to put product on it because it may end up getting straight all over again... I wish I know how to get that sleek look by rolling it at night... but my rollers over night on the satin ones end up looking frizzy:rolleyes: I don't know how to blend without using heat and gel...:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Are full wigs an option to give the front part of your hair a break? My first thought is DC, scalp massages, and low manipulation. There are some good threads about taking care of your edges that have really good suggestions.

Re: MINOR MAJOR SETBACK... with HALF WIGS!!!!!

I suppose I could do full wigs, however... I just like that the half wigs look so much more real... I work with a lot of people who will really take notice and talk really bad about me if I look like I have on a wig. Lace fronts are NOT an option for me... they run about $89.00 and up for a good one around here... My hair is not gonna grow back over night, but how do I PROTECTIVE STYLE my hair if it's gonna have to be manipulated every morning to cover the half wig???

My pincurls sucked really bad at first. It took me a while of trial and error and trying different techniques to get it to work for me. Now I use pincurls all the time. What seemed to make a difference for me was using double prog clips instead of bobby pins and also using a magnetic roller to do the curl then sliding it out and securing with the clip. This way the curl has a good shape with the ends tucked in and also I don't end up with dents.

Check out Youtube for some tutorials.

In terms of products to keep your braidouts and curls, try using a tiny amount of moisturizer then a bit of setting lotion on top of that before pincurling or braiding. Your set will last longer without too much build-up if you go easy on the products.

If you are starting off with deep-conditioned clean hair, do your first set of pincurls with heat. They will last longer.

When I used to wear wigs, I would buy full wigs with a mono-front. This type will allow you to leave out a small amount of hair at the front along your hairline. This makes it look more natural since your hair line is showing but you don't have to worry about blending a whole lot of hair... just the front edge. You could probably find some Youtube clips that demonstrate this technique as well.

All of these techniques will take some practice to make it work for you but it will be well worth the trials to keep your hair healthy.
