I'm going to a stylist here in my small town. She is white but says he's married to a black man and does hair for his family. I went to her before and she did a good job trimming my hair.

Today she says she's going to do a blow dry and wrap style. I'm thinking my hair is too poofy and will need to be straight ironed to look decent. A good looking wrap style without flat ironing? (And I have 10 months of new growth.)

So who thinks it can actually be done?

I'm thinking I'll have a poofball on my head.

Yes post pics if you can. I think she is going to be able to do something nice. I think the whites are pretty good with blowdryers, and she is already familiar with AA hair so go for it.

Maybe I will express my doubt about this working without a flat iron.

I would definitely express it. I tell people I am not trying to do your job, but this is my hair and I am going to be frantic if you don't just appease my mind and do it this way and smile!

She can blow dry it straight. That just requires a lot of stress to the hair though.

I have been to a couple of yt stylists and one thing I noticed that they are off tha' chain with a blow dryer and a brush (the ones I went too) had me lookin' like I had a fresh relaxer and haven't even started flat ironing yet...

I bet it will come out great....just make sure she has a clear understanding of what YOU want...

I went to a white stylist before and she did a great job actually. Why? Because she actually listened. If I suggested something she didn't get an attitude or anything. She might surprise you. Oh and like one of the other ladies said they are pretty good with a brush and a blow dryer.

I anxious to see what she did. When referring to white stylists I always think of Jayson from "good hair" . Some white people are just gifted with doing AA hair very nice

Okay! I'm back. She did a great job!

1. She took about an hour to wash, condition, wrap, put me under the dryer, blow dry (and finishing touches with the flat iron.)

2. She used this as a "silkening oil treatment" (her words) before she wrapped my wet hair. Something for me to PJ over, I guess.

3. Unbelievably, she got my wet hair wrapped. She was using one of those rattail combs, and I said, "Hey you aren't pulling all my hair out, are you?" And she said, "Nope." And showed me the comb with one poor little strand of hair in it. She put these crepe paper like things around my head before I sat under the dryer.

4. She used the brush and blow dryer method. It didn't seem to get to hot except at my nape.

5. She DID use the flat iron some. But I know for a fact that she charges extra for flat iron, so I guess since she just used it for "finishing touches" (I would guess roots, heh) then it didn't count.

6. 30 bucks, one hour. Not bad. My hair feels very soft and very swangy!

I'm definitely going to try out the Aquage products. But they are expensive. I am trying to control myself for the month of March!
