So...how long have you had your Pibbs? Was it worth it?

Of course I want to know because the PJ in me is itching to buy one from Bluebeez, even though I have a hood dryer that I really like....

my main concern about the Pibbs is the size of the hood. Anyhoo, how long have you had your Pibbs? Do you still use it/love it or is it sitting in a closet somewhere? Any problems with the hood size?

I read through a ton of old threads, btw.....

I've had mine for 8 months now...I love it! I use it to DC, hardcore protein treatments, roller sets etc...I have no problems with the hood size; the largest rollers I use are grey, but I've heard the black rollers fit too (tighter fit of course).

I've been a proud owner of a Pibbs 514 for about 5 years and it has been the best purchase I have EVER made for my hair. The hood size is ideal for me because of my length. In the past I had a hard time fitting all my rollers under a regular hooded dryer, but the Pibbs is large enough to hold all my big ole rollers and dry my hair in an hour or so If you are a regular roller setter, I definitely believe it is worth the investment. It is also good for DCing, setting hair color, etc.

Now that you ask, I have not used my Pibbs in a while. It was worth it though. DH has used it more so than me in the past few months since I have been wearing cornrows & twists since September.

I'm getting braids tomorrow but it was nice to see that I can still do an okay rollerset.

I've had mine for a year and a half and it was absolutely worth the investment.

I don't rollerset often (lazy), but it's worth having around for deep conditioning, protein treatments and just regular old quick drying.

Thanks, ladies. I was really wondering b/c a lot of the old threads make it sound like the hood is too tight. Now, I have been under a Pibbs Kwik Dri a few times at the Dom salon. I didn't pay much attention to the hood size, especially since my hair was pretty short then, but I remember seeing ladies with gray and black rollers.

They always put more of the ladies with long hair under the Pibbs so they could dry faster.

....and 5 years is a long time!!!

I've had mine for about 2.5 years, and it was def worth it for me. I rollerset every week. I do use my heat cap for deep conditioning, but my Pibbs was def a great investment. If I had to do it over, I'd buy it again. There are times when I go to the salon for a wash and set but that's rare. Even if I don't rollset, the Pibbs is good for quick drying.

You know i have a serious problem when i saw a picture of one ladies pj closet and IMMEDIATELY named and identified her Pibbs and all you could see in the picture was a part of the hair dyer.... lol

2 years,I think.It was worth every penny until It fell down the stairs and the temp. knob fell off.I have to pay $40 for a new knob so I can change the temp. again.Best investment ever though since I use a lot of heat(I need to keep up on DC'ing)

I've had mine for a year I think? Whenever the big hoopla was... thats when I was suckered into it.

And its been my best purchase ever-- it has certainly more than paid for itself. It died on me earlier this year, but hubby did some EE work on it and its running smoothly again. But that few weeks without my baby hurt.

Also,I wear a shower cap and generously apply the DC and make sure its very wet so it creates a nice steamy enviorment under the cap.I won't ever purchase a steamer as long as I have a pibbs.

I want to upgrade, but I will be sooooo mad if it doesn't cut my drying time. I promised myself I would get a Pibbs once I reached APL, and I'm there!

This is what's pushing me over the edge....all the steaming talk! I have no problem with the towel method, so I don't want to buy a steamer, but I know the Pibbs would really help increase the effectiveness of the method.

Good question! I remember the Pibbs hood being kind of hard to get in and out of when I sat under them in the salon.

The hood is kind of stiff in the beginning but it will loosen up over time. In the beginning, it almost feels like you are going to break the hood when you open it but you won't. It is just really that stiff.

Nikki, have you continued to rollerset throughout your transition? I've gotten as far as 4 months post, and after that it got kind of frustrating. I've been thinking about transitioning, and I'd like to continue rollersetting.

Yes, it's very confusing. On Amazon, Bluebeez has it listed for $309. If you're just browsing the site, it appears to be regular price (like around $349 or something, not sure).

Then, if you click on it, it's $296. lol And if you check the clearance section, you see that there's also free shipping!!!! LHCF has turned me into an internet sleuth.
