I got my hair straightened at the salon and it already looks like a hot mess

It's pretty humid where I am right now. And it puffed up within an hour of walking outside.

What should I do? I'm thinking I'm just going to do a bantu knot out because this puffy mess is going to be worse by tom. Should I even bother wrapping it tonight? Do you think coconut oil will make this worse? Help.

And I know I need a trim.

The lady used some baba de caracoles leave in conditioner. Ill have to look into that sabino moisture block. I don't think I'm going to be able to get that tonight though. Also I don't have a straightner just a curling iron.

Dang I'd be pissed too! I don't think you'll be able to wrap it. You could try the bantu knots or a flexi rod set.

I agree with the sabino recommendation, or atleast another kind of straigtening serum. What thecnique did you use? Did you blow dry or use the comb chase method?

I think bantus would be a great idea, doesn't look like wrapping will help.

ETA: just read that this was a salon job, um yea def go get a refund! That's unacceptable!!

Take those pictures back in there tomorrow and get a FULL refund.
I don't have the time. I'm in college, this was my free day. Also can I really blame them, because the humidity is killer right now.

It's probably going to be bantu knots.

It wasn't me. I went to a salon. Not sure what the "comb chase" method is. She washed, hot oiled, began to blow dry while using I belive (a paddle brush), then flat ironed

Yep, look like bantu knots it is.

I had the same thing done at another salon and it was fine. I only went to this lady because of a friend's recommendation. I saw my friend's straight hair and it wasn't very good but for some reason I decided to go. Guess I learned my lesson.

did you use a straightening balm for blowdrying or flat ironing (if you ironed)? for humid climates, lots of newgrowth etc straightening balms are the best, it helps fight against moisture, frizz etc. so try that next time you straighten, right now i'm using rusks str8.

I don't know if you blew your hair out but if so just blow it out with a round brush, paddle brush, pick attachment add some shine serum wrap it up and see how it is in the morning.

What kind of straightening balms? Like redken smooth down?

what kind of flat iron did they use? Did they use any type serum or lotion? I'm sorry that it puffed up & hopefully you will able to remedy that.

:giggle: I would wrap it, with a bit of oil.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll probably won't be going the wrapping route

Thanks. I don't think she used a straightening balm. She just sprayed a bit of water and used some baba de caracoles leave in cream when she was blow drying. Yeah she used a paddle brush.

I think it might have been a chi, I know for sure she used a chi ionic blow dryer so I just assumed the iron was chi as well. Just the baba de caracoles leave in conditioner.

I also think I need to just cut off 3 inches of my hair. I think if my hair was really healthy it wouldn't have puffed up so easily. The top half of my hair is still perfectly straight and I know that's healthier than the bottom. Oh, hair. So frustrating.

yea, apply a little coconut oil and then bantu knot (not too many) and you should have a sleeker wavy look. When my flat ironed hair frizzes, the bantu knot out totally saves it.

it could have been the leave-in. Did she apply after the flatironing, do you know is it waterbased? Sorry for all the questions b/c I'm upset for you.

How many do you think I should use for my hair. Last time I used

She applied it before during blow drying. Nothing went on during the flat iron. I have no idea if it was waterbased or not. I tried googling the name but only spanish names came up. I'm upset too. :nono: $50... poof. It could have been worse. I just put it into a tucked- in ponytail for now aka my struggle bun.

natural heat-straightened hair and mid-to-heavy humidity don't mix!
all of the products that are being recommended are no match for mother nature. i'm a member of many natural hair blogs and the natural hair divas will tell you the same.

Part your hair in four, and do about six bantu knots per section, for loose waves. :yep:
and you should definitely at least attempt to get your money back, because that's ridiculous.

I agree with NikStar. A little coconut oil and a bantu knot set should give it a nice look.

6 bantu's per section? Will that make small waves or big waves? Just trying to estimate. I don't think i'd have enough hair to do that many per section. It's always interesting for me to hear about the techniques others use.

OP, Yes, do the bantu's and go with the flo. I'm sure you can get a lovely effect that should last for the next 2-4 days. Then redo them again :)

you're probably right. :yep:
but i notice when my hair's especially poufy and i'm doing them on dry hair, it needs more knots because otherwise the waves won't really hold.

:look:um, i aint gonna lie, it does look a hot mess, i would go and get my money back pronto!

but onthe upside your hair looks nice and thick, i think you should/could rock a twist out, braidout, or the knotouts :yep:

its a shame that this happened to you, did they put a serum on after?

:rofl:on tha flo!!!!!

:rofl:on tha flo!!!!!

I'm saying! :lachen: I read it like she was old friend sayin' girl...yeah...honestly mayne, they got you... but its gone be alright!!! :lachen:

Hey River, I wish you had some before shots. I know it takes a grip of time to straighten in the first place and to only get one hour of enjoyment for your time and money's worth-- that's not right :nono: I could see if it were a complete rainstorm outside... but humidity could have been protected against with a good serum or some anti-humectant. Even without that though a good salon quality iron should have done some sealing on its own-- not like what you'd have with straightening with a Conair or Gold N Hot. :perplexed

I think the bantu knot set is a good comeback from this though- and I'm loving the thickness! :yep:
