I have been using S Curl daily on my ends for the past 3 weeks and the retention factor has been so far so good

I mean I have to really see if this is helping with retention after maybe another 3 weeks. But does anybody else use this stuff and have they notice that it helps with retention as well?

My son decided to grow out his fro and S curl is the only thing that keeps his hair moisturized all day.

Scurl is my baby daddy.:lachen: I luv that stuff!:drunk:

Not sure about retention but it keeps my transitioning hair very moisturized and a little goes a long way.

Ok please forgive me for this question but I see S-Curl all the time on the boards and am not sure what it is. Are you talking about the activator in the blue and white bottle?

Well anything that will keep those Old Ends Moist, and keep them from breaking, is Good Money! I Love S-Curl, it gets the job done! Good Stuff! :yep:

Yes, Your right about that, I can only use it when I'm wearing My hair curly, or wearing a PS, like a Curly PoofPoof in a Banana Clip, but its Great!

I always thought s curl was for people with a jheri curl because my mum used it all the time.

I have read here lots of people grew and maintained their length when their hair was jheri curled, so maybe there is a link, keep your hair s curled moist and maybe the length gets retained. Umm...now I have to get some s curl!Lol!

*Waiting 4 Nonie 2 arrive*

This stuff is good left my hair really soft! Just which it had a different scent lol

I love S Curl for when I wear my hair curly as well! It holds the moisture in my hair like nobody's business. I am on hiatus from it in the winter though because for some reason, I am not getting good results, but I will be back at it during the spring/summer though!

That's exactly why I am saying it helps with retention. I mean if the ends are not breaking off, then the hair gets longer correct?

Isn't that the science behind hair retention, keeping the hair that you have on your head as the new hair comes in. I get hella growth but am not retaining any length. If I was, I would BSL every year.

That's why I said that I will be checking the length in 3 more weeks. 6 weeks should be enough time to see a difference. I'm desparate :nono:

A watched pot never boils!

I also Love the S-curl Texturizing Spray, the one in the blue and grey bottle! But yes Scurl is Da Bomb! I have been avoiding it cuz it's been cold, but it seems I am gonna have to just go for it cuz it is the ONLY thing that keeps my hair moist and soft!

:yep: thats because the glycerin and propylene glycol in it are humectants. They draw moisture from their surroundings. during summer/ high humidity its all good because they draw moisture from the air. When its cold/low humidity they tend to draw moisture from the hair itself. Making your hair feel dry.

i want to try this but do any of all get that scurl smell though?i dont wanna go around smelln like jerri curl juice.

Its actually not that pronounced, I think its a pleasant, light, fragrance, I don't know, to each His own! but its worth it!

can yall please tell me how I'm using s- curl wrong? Even when applied with the lightest of touch, my hair feels sticky and looks like I've got a bad jheri curl. I used to use it on my new growth only because it does soften the hair, but I've discovered WGO and I like that better for this purpose (despite the funky smell).

I'd like to give s- curl another go round (considering I've got a bottle under my sink). Anybody else have this problem?

lmaaooo!! I hit the floor when I read this!! But my mom always said that her and her peers hair grew sooo long in the 80's because of s-curl activator and the jojoba oil in the jheri curl process...i remember her styling her jheri curl different ways when i was a little girl lol

I can imagine that if you mix water, glycerine, and jojoba you would get a similar outcome without the smell...glycerine holds mositure and smooths my frizz , but it just leaves a sticky texture on my hands everytime I touch my hair so I hate that! I dont know if scurl does the same though!

co sign with this here.

I love scurl it does moisturize. I think I may apply it too heavy handed cause sometimes it's sticky on my neck. I do love this and will always keep it in rotation.

I did not know that!

I've been trying to test the CurlyGirl method :perplexed but my hair was feeling dry. This week, I decided to go back to my trusty old Scurl and ta-dah, my hair is happy! I've used Scurl throughout my natural journey and while I was transitioning. I always come back! :yep:
