Last year I stopped texlaxing after 8 or 9 months due to breakage in the back of my hair. Currently I’m maybe 10 weeks post relaxer ( I think, I’m real bad a keeping up with dates) Anyway to reason for this post….I have worn my hair pulled back in a bun for two weeks straight. With a little Vaseline, mango butter and just a tad bit of gel tied down with a scarf I can produce waves.

Now here is the kicker for me, I pulled a little of my hair down (around my temple area)added a little gel and it curled up! That is the look I had been trying to get with a texlax and all along I didn’t need one!

The only reason I keep wearing my hair in a bun is because I like my side burns curly. This makes me want to start another transition but I’m really scared and have proven not to do so well with taking care of my hair when its somewhat natural state.

Anyway I just wanted to share.

Your bun looks absolutely beautiful Eyunka. I think there are a ton of threads here that will be able to guide you in the right direction. I would look for stretching threads, breakage threads, etc. Either way, your waves are lovely. Keep us posted w/ what you decide.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I will see how well my hair holds up maybe I didn't need to Texas. Maybe my natural state is manageable.

During my 1st transition I visited those thread quite often. I think I got overwhelmed by all the info and didn't find a method to work for me. Atleast I know. Texlax is not a route that world for me. I will read through the thread again with the hopes of finding something
Hi there! Your hair is pretty. I think you should definetely check out the transitioning threads. There's a lot of good information in them. Also, you may want to try incorporating protein (like Aphogee) or try Henna to help add strength to your hair while transitioning. Good luck!
