Hello PikiNikki ,

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Yes. Your hair is beautiful.

1) Is the regi you listed above the regi you started with after many trial and errors of many products?

2) Have you ever used any growth aids? If so, which one(s)?

3) What is the shortest length your hair has been?

TIA
Thank you ladies for the nice compliments.

1) yes, lots of trial and error in addition to wasting lots of money on products I now need to use up

2) if massaging my scalp with HV CoCasta Shikakai Oil 2-3x a week qualifies, then yes
-I'm currently giving QB Amla Nourishing Pomade a try, as it isn't as heavy

3) NL, my hair was severely damaged in college due to relaxer and highlights, so I got it cut

Niki you and your hair are beautiful! Such a nice personality to go along with that. I've found a new hair idol :yep:

Thanks for posting.

Can you give a quick review on the Jonathan Showerhead and how much it has benefited your hair? I'm thinking of getting it. TIA!

:lachen:Sure I will. As a matter of fact, I will take pics while it's in its twisted state and post soon. I'm almost done with this straight style and need to go back to no heat styles anyway. I apply all products prior to braiding/twisting. My twistouts are always done in cornrow style in two rows with my hair parted across the middle horizontally. The number of twist usually average about 9. I roll the ends with Goody Satin Rollers.

PikiNiki, I'm having a hard time trying to visualize this. Do you mean you part from ear to ear? Or, are the two rows start at your forehead going towards your neck? But, you mention 9 twists. Where do they fit in with the two rows?

Sorry, if I'm being slow. :spinning:

The best way to describe it, I guess, is to say that I get a cleaner feel due to softer water, and it doesn't leave the residue of traditional showerheads. My skin doesn't look as ashey prior to applying lotion as in the past. It might be helpful to add that I've used natural soaps on my skin prior to getting the Jonathan showerhead, therefore, it must be the showerhead. The result on my skin are more obvious, but if I notice it on my skin, I could only imagine the benefit to my hair. I feel the benefits on my hair. The reviews on QVC and Sephora were beneficial in my decision to purchase it.

This might be a dumb question, but ... do you have a chemical relaxer in your hair? You mentioned stretching, so that's what made me wonder ...

We have a similar hair type so your regimen may be very helpful for me, but I am 100% chemical free, so the results would be different, I would think, if you're working with hair that's been chemically altered.

I concur with pps ... GORGEOUS hair <3!

I have a question. Which relaxer brand do you use?

Yes, you, your hair, and your personality are beautiful!

Not a dumb question...it doesn't hurt to ask :) I'm relaxed, and stretch my relaxers about 22 wks or so. I texlaxed for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Hmm, I don't think the results would vary much, if at all because with the exception of Joico, all of my products are natural and have worked well for many natural ladies on this board. However, I've read that SheScentIt butters don't provide enough moisture for some natural ladies. My 3 year old DD is natural (4a) and those butters aren't exactly my favs for her. I use them to seal and they give my hair a healthy shine without the heaviness of some oils.

Nah, I could understand how that description might be a little difficult to understand. Lets see...I do part from ear to ear. I guess I should have said that the twists aren't loose. They're twisted to my scalp going back like French braids, but in two rows. I do it in two rows because as you get further back, it gets too thick and the twists aren't as defined. This method helps minimize tangles also. HTH

Thanks:blush3: I use Affirm No-Lye Sensitive Scalp (it's mild). I mix it with silk amino acids and olive oil. If you prefer bone straight hair, be VERY careful if you try this. I couldn't even begin to tell you how much to add because it has been experimental for me, lol! I added about a capfull of both and ended up texlaxed (on purpose).

Thanks for coming in and posting your regimen, have the silk amino acids made a big difference in your hair?

It's hard to tell if the saa alone have made a difference because I just started adding olive oil to the relaxer as well. However, I plan to experiment with adding saa to my conditioners. I added saa to my relaxer with the idea that it's a very light protein with low molecular weight and softening properties. If the relaxer was going to penetrate my hair shaft, then I wanted it to take the saa with it, lol! I figured anything to minimize the harshness of the relaxer would be good. My texlaxed hair turned out really soft.

ETA: I'm going to leave out the addition of the panthenol and honeyquat to see how saa performs solo in my dc. This is the only way I'll be able to tell how valid the results are. I'll do it this weekend when I add it to HV SitriNillah DC.

Ok, I think I gotcha! I typed out a whole confusing response just now until I actually walked myself thru it. Here is what I come up with.

1. Ear to ear part
2. Now, you have a top section and a bottom section.
3. You make cornrow twists going back towards your neck...in both the top and bottom sections.
4. Therefore, you end up with approx 9 cornrow twists.

TA DA...she finally arrives!!!

Did I get it right?

Thank you for helping me!

BRAVO! BRAVO! You got it exactly right! Please let me know how it turns out simplyhair! I get my best results the longer I stretch due to more volume. The more twists I add, the fuller it looks. Good luck :)
