Does it matter what brand/type of blowdryer you use?

this is the one I had previously.

I had it for several years, and I think the ceramic coating wears off of the attachments just like a ceramic coated iron. It still worked for getting my hair straight (I always used the bigger brush) but the super moisturized soft feeling I have with my new iron makes it clear that for best results, the attachments may need to be replaced every few years.

I hadn't ever seen one with an actual straightening brush (flat vent brush attachment) so that's why I jumped all over the Remington one when I saw it. There were only 2 left at Target when I went. The brush has two sides, one with wider pins like a typical vent brush, and one with bristles. I start with the wider side for most of my hair, and use the side with more tension to straighten the roots. Works for me
BTW I still flat iron afterwards, but the ironing goes faster when my hair is already pre-straightened w/blowdrying.

I have a yellowbird and it works fine for me but I rarely blow dry my hair. I can't see paying $100+ dollars for a blowdryer I may use once in a blue moon. If you plan to blow dry frequently, I would invest in a better one though.

I am just wondering...if ionic blowdryers have such a great impact on hair, why is it that we dont hear about them on the forums? People love to rave about good products and tools on here, so to me it just seems a bit odd that more people haven't really talked about them.

PS - not saying that I don't believe ya'll because I do. I'm just trying to reason this out and make sure its really worth the money so I dont make an impulse by on folica...tonight.

Because the boards are anti-heat for the most part. Whether you use a quality dryer or not excessive heat is still bad for the hair. Some people just don't like to take the chance at all. And I understand totally. Even when my hair was at it's healthiest and relaxed it always did better with an anti heat regimen. Personally, I feel like as long as you take the proper precautions then it shouldn't be a problem. Some people's hair can stand up to heat and still thrive though. You have to do what's best for you.

Until I get FHI money :look: , do you all think this would be a good dryer to try from Sally's for $60?

:lachen: :lachen: Girl, this is a $35 miracle I got at my neighborhood Target. I've been singing the praises of the hot air brush all by myself for a long time now. I remember I started a thread about 5 years ago asking if anyone had used one and people weren't too encouraging. I think it looks too dangerous, like a Revostyler or something, and it just scares people off  It's just like blowdrying with a separate brush, only not as complicated :yep:
I've noticed more showing up at stores lately -- they used to be sort of scarce at stores I went to. Now they've moved up and gotten all ionic and ceramic and so on. This Remington hot air brush has tourmaline and ions and whatnot, and my hair feels lovely after using it. Soft and moisturized :yep: I haven't been doing a good job of keeping a central photo album lately because I frequent 2 hair boards (I'm over at HT as well), so I'll have to put some up over here. It really does a nice job and is way easier and faster than using a separate brush.

I definitely have to get this. I always have used the comb attachment method but after seeing this girl blow dry her hair with a brush and see how much straighter it got I decided to move on to the brush method & now there is a hot air brush! Woot! Thank you so much for explaining it to me! I seriously went cross eyed at first when I saw it. I was like What the HECK is this? It does look scary :yep: but I am willing to try since you love it!

This is actually the situation I'm in. I've actually only used my blowdryer once this year (June) to straighten my hair. I plan to use it again in December. But I'm thinking ahead to when I stop wearing wigs and begin "wearing" my own hair.

I have the FHI Heat Nano Salon Pro 2000, and I love it. It does not leave my hair dried out like my Gold n' Hot (I bought it because it was the cheapest blow dryer in the BSS).

I had no idea that the type of blow dryer you used made any difference. When I'm ready to flat iron/hot comb in the future I'll be looking into getting one of the good, quality ones.

i say nope cause i think with tools its more about technique....my stylist has used inexpensive and expensive salon tools on my hair and always the same beautiful result.

Yes, I definitely believe so. Personally I am a heat user, majorly, lol . I have had numerous kinds of blow dryers and I will tell you that after using many such as, the Andis hatchet, Gold N Hot, Conair etc. I actually got a GVP from Sally's, its a Chi knock off, Ceramic Infrared and my hair has never been as smooth and bouncy with any other kind of dryer.

Same as I didnt believe that the type of flat iron made a difference.

Ive had a lot of trial and error, believe me, LMAO

I just ordered this Remington T Studio one from overstock.com after BlackCardinal raved about it. i'm deployed right now in Honduras so i sent it home. Can't wait to use it with my new Hana Elite flat iron

I blow dried my hair for the first time in a year this past weekend. I felt and saw the difference immediately.

This was the first time I used an ionic/ceramic dryer and my hair was very smooth and not the usually poofy mess it is from a regular blow dryer.

I used the Andis ceramic styler and it was only $20 and gave me great results. I'm curious if I'll get better/same results using a more expensive dryer.

I also have a babyliss ionic/ceramic dryer and I'll use that to compare.

Thanks...i've been wondering about the CHI and now i see Sally's has a GVP version. I was thinking of trying the Ion Conditioning Ionic Ceramic blowdryer-have you tried it?

Also what type of flat iron do you use?
