I recently tool out a weave two weeks ago, and ever since my hair has been snapping all over, like whenever i touch my hair hair comes out, and when i get a shed hair it snaps with ease.

i did a re constructor treatment but no change, i was cowashing but i think it made it worse!?!
now i have tones of tangled split, extremely weak broken hir, help please someone, its growing but breaking too so much :nono:

the majority of my hair stays damp consistently as i wet bun everyday, do i need a stronger protien?!!?!?!

i feel so helpless :nono:

I think the co-washing is the problem. Too much moisture and not enough protein. I think next time you wash use a protein conditioner then a moisturizing conditioner. My natural hair hated co-washing, it causing my hair to break and my scalp to itch & also my hair didn't feel clean. Now I wash & deep conditioned w/ both protein & moisturizing conditioner. It takes a long time but I don't lose too much hair. Hth

Your hair snapping so easily sounds to me like it needs serious moisture. I would DC overnight a couple times with a moisturizing conditioner, and maybe mix some olive oil into it, since that's supposed to improve elasticity.

I remember when my hair was overmoisturised. It didnt snap. It felt mushy and weak, but it didn't really snap, it was just stretchy. Over proteinated hair for me is hard, brittle, and prone to split ends.

Hope this helps.

Wow! That's messed up.

I have never had the damage you've had, but intensive conditioning on a protein/moisturizing level is what you need.

ApHOGEE Treatment for Damaged Hair and the aphogee balancing moisturizer. These MUST be used together. Protein conditioner first, then moisturizing conditioner to balance it out.

This website has instructions and if you look below the pic you'll see reviews of folks who've used it with success. It's the only brand that has consistently received positive reviews throughout the years:

http://www.folica.com/ApHOGEE_Treatme_r115_1.html

I would use it once or twice a week until your hair got better.

I currently use and love:

Nutress Hair Moisturizing Protein Pack for Extremely Damaged Hair
- the Black colored letters are virgin hair; the Red colored letters for colored or chemically treated hair

Goldwell Kerasilk Treatment - You don't have to use heat, but I would. Rinse thoroughly, then follow with a moisturizing conditioner.

Osmo Essence Intensive Deep Repair Mask - You can use heat with it or not. Either way keep it on for about 30 minutes or so.

I also love Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. I like it because I can leave it on overnight, if I know I'm not going to have time to do the heat thing in the morning. My hair looks and feels wonderful. But in YOUR particular case I would use the above first. Your hair seems like it needs more professional healing products.

I thought this is what i would need this, i will go and buy it asap, cuz i did the aphogee recon 2 days ago, would it be too soon to do it tomorrow?

It shouldn't. How does your hair feel now? Is it somewhat better? If not, then I would do it again, then on subsequent days use a deep moisturizing conditioner (no protein). Jane Carters Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner is an excellent one. You can use it with or without heat and it doesn't weigh your down. I love how it smells too. Located at any Whole Foods.

I like Nutress Hair Moisturizing Protein Pack for Extremely Damaged Hair. It gets excellent reviews like Aphogee, but the only difference is that it contains a moisturizer in addition to the protein, so you don't have to do a second step.

Are you using any kind of moisturizing styling product like a creme or pomade? I like Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter and Miss Jessies Curly Buttercreme.

What is your usual styling technique for your hair?

Next time you get a weave make sure to deep condition and using a moisturizing styler of some sort during the braiding process. I hope you didn't do those horrible quick weave things with glue.

My hair is like this, i do a bun everyday alternating which type i do, i spray with mane and tail detangler or leave in, then i put kids organics shea butter detangler moisturizing lotion, its amazing for getting the comb through, then i put the ic brown gel and my denman to put my hair in the bun.

most of the time i dont even need the denman, byt my hair feels so weak and some bits stretch so much and others are just snapping off everywhere, it feels over moisturized from the 3 day a week cowashing, but then the heat damaged part are still snapping off so should i go for the harder protein?

You need to use a CLARIFYING shampoo BEFORE doing a deep conditioner, especially one with protein. I don't think you should conditioner wash everyday. Sometimes a sulfate shampoo is necessary. Personally, I wouldn't use Mane and Tail hair products. :nono: I tried the conditioner once and my hair didn't feel right.

Do you conditioner wash everyday?

What products are you currently using?

Leave the BROWN GEL alone. Yuck. Very drying. Use Fantasia IC Gel w/sparklites instead. Not as drying and doesn't leave flakes.

i would pre-poo on dry hair under a heat cap for 30mins with a mixture of mayo( 1/4 to 1/2 c), olive, coconut or sesame oil ( 2-4 tbsps) and blackstrap molasses ( 1-3 tbsp) i never measure so thats a estimate that would vary based on your hair thickness, density or length. I would then shampoo and when you condition don't rinse it completely out. Then apply you leavein and detangle. I would mositurise and seal like crazy (4-7 times a week) for the next couple of months and wash weekly. I would lay off co-washing for a bit.if you have extra pre-poo mix left you can refridgerate it. the products i use are in my siggy but i know everything doesn't work for everybody....keep it simple and don't go buying everything under the sun either. when you hair improves then i would implement hard core protein every 4-6 weeks.

for gel I like afroveda while other ladies use aloe vera as a gel......AO GBP gives a nice of moisture and protein I use poos and condishes from this company. the other poos and condishes in their line that are heavier on moisture are honeysuckle rose, JAY and white camellia. I hope this helps...you'll get through this learning your hair is a process...i'm still tweaking my reggie and transitioned back in 2001.

I think CD products are too beeswax heavy and that could potentially cause you another setback....it took one month of not using some of her product even with clarifyingor baking soda to wash it out of my hair and i'm a weekly washer and only used it on wash day.

Miss jessies products are expensive filled with chemicials and have caused many people with varying hair textures setbacks that i know. If you have unrefined shea butter and oils around the house you can make your own hair cream or butter theres some get vids on youtube.

Remember to keep things simple and even if you appear to have a hair twin that your hair still could be diffrent from theirs.

Like a lot of ladies are saying! I would do an Aphogee 2 step your hair might be over moisturized!

Maybe it's me, but it sounds like you have toooooo much going on. My suggestion is - take it back to basics:

1. Clarfying shampoo - first time only, then back to co-washing.
2. Mild protein (Roux Mendex is fantastic) - once a week or bi-weekly.
3. Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
4. Porosity Control (Roux PC is also fantastic)
5. Moisturizing leave-in
6. Seal with oil
7. Non-traumatizing protective style - leave the wet bunning alone for awhile, it sounds like your hair doesn't like it.

When in doubt, KISS

i use doc bronners castile soap and mix it up or leave it straight only with water as a clarifying shampoo.

i only co was 2-3 times a week but will make it once now.
i think mane and tail is good, i only use the water based detangler and leave in,

the brown gel believe it or not is one of the main reasons my hair gew and maintained las time round, i make sure to moisturize well then use the gel, it holds my hair very well and is not drying it washing out with ease, the others do nithing for my hair to be honest.

ok i will, i know my hair likes moisture but i feel its over moisturized this time, and my ends are paying for it, it has that weak slack damaged relaxed look about it, and unfortunatly just put my hair up for bed and the thickness is half of what is was before,im so angry at myself, how can i even trim when all my hair is so uneven. :nono:

I need to fix tis asap, im stopping the cowash till my hair gets back to normal .

for me the roux i think made a bit of the problem, i used it when i didnt need to so my hair needs the protein to get back to its normal self, then a slight trim maybe?!? and i dunno about cowashing anymore :nono:
