So I kept the braids in for 1 month (23rd-23rd) and some days (since it took me 4 days to unravel all of them).

Revelations:
1. Although I didn't think they were small enough, I know I won't be doing them any smaller since my hair is fine and taking them down was tedious.

2. Thoroughly detangled hair prior to braiding was a help in unraveling since once I got past the curled ends I could mostly just braid backwards.

3. Its easier to use less shampoo and conditioner in braids, but no matter how thoroughly I poo'd I still had some buildup...maybe because I spritzed daily, who knows.

Here is the link to the original pics for comparison

Without further ado...
First: aerial shot
Second: close up (same area)
Third: side streched (I know its not the same side as original don't shoot me)
Fourth: detangled after slathering each section with water/aloe/evco spritz and letting EVOO marinate for about 5 mins
Fifth: a quickbun that I will keep until I have time to wash tomorrow

A few more shots...these are not for the faint of heart since its my massive ball of (mostly shed hair)

The first ball is after the EVOO detangling, the second is the takedown with the detangling added, and the third is the compressed size. I know its mostly shed cause I randomly grabbed hairs out of the ball and they 9/10 were full length with bulb. Also I recognize that its been a month but this PP shedding is a mother (pun intended)...oh well my hair is thick enough that I don't miss much (only when its braided and scalpy)

That's a lot of shedding. My hair doesn't shed a whole lot but i still mourn the 10 or 11 hairs that i find when i use my denman :lachen:

keep up the good work!!! your hair looks very healthy :yep:

Wow! Is all I have to say! Your hair looks very thin with those braids, but once they are out it looks like a different head of hair altogether!!!!!! Your hair is not as thin as you may think!

Looking at yr pic with yr hair braided in large braids it is so thick! What a diff fm the same head of hair.

I find it easier to convert small braids to small or slightly larger twists and then take those out after I get wear out of those. Or even just keep joining the twists together until they're big enough to not be such a tiring event. You got some great growth. Congrats on making APL. In the front at least.

Thanks. Yeah I think I am the very definition of a fine-strand but dense headed natural (that almost sounds like an insult :look:)

 4 days?? I've got braids right now that are pretty much the same size ... and I have fine, dense hair ... and I was planning on keeping them for a month (I'm heading into week three now). 4 days?? I'm dreading it :nono:

But you got great growth though! Congrats!

Beautiful hair!!!

I have fine but dense hair too and my hair looks thin in pixie braids :yep:

4 days? :wow: How many hours per day would you say you spent taking them out?

Maybe next time do twists. I've given up on braids bc they take way too long to take out
(can you tell I'm still bitter from my last micro removal session)
