Hey yall,
This is just a vent... (sigh) I have about five inches of natural hair. But it looks like two inches:wallbash: ugh!!!!!

The shrinkage used to annoy the hell out of me but now I just embrace it now. It comes with the territory (as a natural) so to speak. If you look at my pic you would not believe my hair is near bra strap when stretched.

Tiff, you haven't seen shrinkage yet. You only get 50% or so? Check out the thread below.

I personally love shrinkage coz it gives me even more variety in the way I can wear my hair. Today I have TWA hair; tomorrow I have bigger hair....

Here's a thread showing shrinkage galore: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=345513

Yea, that is shrinkage!! but very inspiring to keep going...

Yeah, check out the thread Nonie posted. It will either inspire or exasperate you more.

But either way it will get a response.

It is the food of champions that is for sure. If you can wrap your mind around the shrinkage you have done something serious. I am telling you.

Me and shrinkage are frenemies. I have not mastered or embraced it yet as my Jedi Master Nonie has. :yep: It is a process.

hmm the shrinkage in that thread is delicious! lol! Gotta love some shrinkage!

When i cut of my relaxed ends that shrinkage is gonna kill me, make me look like potato head, but hey!!

I have massive shrinkage, I was given great advice to actually put moisture in my hair, my hair was about 4 inches after adding the hair mayo it was around 1 inch!! I was so shocked, but I guess its all part of having natural hair.

That was a twist out on day one (I always hate day ones) but 2nd and 3rd day it gets a bit stretched out and doesn't look so shrunken. I will be posting some actual length shots when i wash this Sunday. I get 50% or more shrinkage!!!

Embrace it embrace it. Just think shrinkage can help you retain length as your hair won't be rubbing up against your clothes as much. I think moisture would help that makes sense. But I was grazing shoulder last I checked and I am sure my hair still shrinks up to my ear. I love it though. If it bothers you too much, find ways to stretch it(twists, braids, twist outs, braid outs, banding, etc.) I for one love m shrinkage but when I first went natural I was like you.

Shrinkage can be a protective style in itself at times because with my shrinkage I won't have to worry about my hair touching my shoulders unstretched until I'm in the MBL/WSL range.
