Hola,

So I'm torn... I was trying to hold out for three months until my next touch up. I am at 11 weeks and this mess is unbearable :(! The length of my hair feels great! It's mositurized and shiny but my new growth is gangsta!
The roots of my hair feel like an afro. I blowdryed my roots on warm with V05 miracle mist on Saturday but apparently my ng is revolting. My edges look a mess. I finally found a headband big enough for my head so I can cover the edges and my nape. Braidout are not looking good right now.

So would you relax this weekend or wait until next week?

Thanks!

MV

do you have breakage? does the headband make it look decent? do you have anywhere special to go between now and next week? if the answer is no to all of them then i would wait the extra week.

if the new growth is that unbearable I would relax this weekend. 11 weeks is a long stretch and you will need to be able to manage the new growth to apply the relaxer.

If it were me I would touch up ... 11 weeks is a long time... no need to suffer. Maybe next time you'll have better luck and will be able to go 13? Who knows...

I voted go ahead and relax it.I'm never stretching a relaxer again unless it's in the summer (since the humidity kills it anyway) For me it's always been more trouble than it's worth trying to stretch a relaxer with the breakage, dryness, ugly edges, etc.

I would definitely relax! I see no need to wait the extra week, unless you're on a personal challenge just to see if you can do it. :)

I would take this wk. and try preparing that NG to make relaxing a breeze, try adding some oils or something to soften it up, because if it's hard to manage now it's gonna be war trying to part and apply w/in a reasonable amount of time.

To be honest I would just do it. I know I need to do it when my scalp hurts. Girl don't torture yourself. Just do it. If the hair is healthy, it isn't going to hurt to relax it.

I wanted to people to at least get a laugh out of all of this  .

I am going to go ahead and relax..thanks for your input. Hopefully I can see my stylist tomorrow or Saturday. I feel so bad for her sometimes, when I come in she just stares at my ng at times and tries to figure out how to tackle it. She is good though, she doesn't rip through my hair, she's very gentle.

Thanks again,

MV

I agree with Fran:)

I realized I was going more damage fighting the ng. I tried slapping it into a pony but all the manipulation had hair flying everywhere.

I got a chuckle out of the bolded...I know what you mean. I've embraced stretching and after self relaxing I know what that battle is all about...that's why they get paid the big bucks...every penny is earned when I get a retouch.

I voted tough it out 'cause that's what I'm doing...my next relaxer is 1/1/07 and I have ton of new growth and I don't even blow dry my hair

All right ladies, I touched up, it looks great. It's shiney, soft, and I didn't lose too much hair. My ends are holding up, I didn't get a trim, so I am full APL length now, I am about 2 - 2.5 inches away from bra strap. Imagine in March I was about an 1" below bra strap but my ends were a mess. I've had major trims since then. Now that I now how to preserve my ends I should be back to bras strap by March of 2007.

Im glad your appt went well.:) I get my touchup tomorrow and its only been 9 wks, but thats good in my books considering before joining hair boards I would relax every 6 or 7 wks. Ive never really been able to stretch. I dont want to do more harm than good because my ng gets too unmanageable, and I end up losing too much hair from trying to manipulate it.:ohwell:

BTW, what relaxer do you use?
