You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

What is your favorite food or drink that you can't live without, yet you know it's bad for your hair ? Example: I have a weakness for Ginger Ale but I know that carbonated drinks are not that great for your health or for hairgrowth, whereas drinking water or fruitjuice etc.. would be a healthy for hair alternative.

Simple Carbs. I need to severly cut those and up my protein intake.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

Pepperoni Pizza and Crown Royal & Coke,Man I know that combo
is bad for me because those 2 are my favorites, but I have started drinking my crown with orange juice and it is good, also I have started to drink it on the weekends instead
of a drink everyday after work, but I have increased my water
intake and slowed down on my pizza but to me that is an
accomplishment!!!

Black coffee for breakfast. I never have time to eat before work so lately I've started taking protein powder to work with me and making it when I get there.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

Mine is also caffeine from coffee. I've got it down to one cup of coffee each day and my body is happy with that. I've eliminated coffee before so I can do it again.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I like coffee too but I haven't had any in the past month!

I'm also drinking a LOT less soda than I have at school in the past. I can really tell the difference in my sleep schedule now that I've cut way back on the caffeine. It's hard, though, cuz I loves me some Barq's

I love to EXERCISE, but it's bad for the hair (my curly style gets ruined, my scalp gets all sweaty... etc.) although I did hear that it's good for the scalp (encourages growth, supposedly...)

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

Lindy - I love to exercise too and in my experience, I know it's good for my hair. My hair seems to grow faster when I exercise everyday for at least 30 min. And it seems to look better.

I understand the dilemma of sweat messing up our hairstyles. It doesn't have to be a sweaty exercise. It could be yoga or it could be walking - just as long as blood is being circulated on a regular basis to the scalp as well as throughout the body.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I agree Isis. I really feel that exercise takes priority over my hair; so I do sacrifice my curls for a sweaty workout every other day!!

It sucks but I think my body thanks me for it.

This post made me realize that I should change the topic to include anything that you enjoy but that's "bad" for your hair, not just food or drinks, thanks to everyone for your replys

I can add another one, I am hooked on chocolate mousse and have heard that sugar is very bad for hair health

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I've read that carbonated drinks can deplete your body of calcium, so they probably are not too great in terms of affecting healthy hair growth. I don't think I've read anything suggessting that they directly affect hair in a negative way, though. However, I can drink ginger ale like it's water

so it probably is negatively affecting my hair and health in general.

Sugar. I have a love affair with sugar and carbohydrates that just defies any measure of health whatsoever.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

It's so funny to read everyone's replies, it's nice to know I'm not alone

I always feel so guilty when I eat or drink these "non conducive to growing healthy hair" things, but having them on occasion won't harm our hair too much. Besides ginger ale and chocolate mousse, I also have a tendency to eat things that have a lot of white flour in them like pizza and donuts, and have read on these boards that bleached flour or white flour or something like that isn't good for hair or health in general.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

Taco Bell and them Cressant Sausauge egg and cheese sandwiches from burger king. I love eating them for breakfast but i know Dairy products aggrivates my seborrhea.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I have read that certain foods can aggravate scalp conditions, I can't really remember what they are, but I didn't know that dairy products could irritate such conditions, thanks for the information. Thanks again to everyone who's contributing to the post, I think I may need a twelve step program for my unhealthy food addictions as well as for my product junkie-ism

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I am trying to eliminate drinking 3 cups of coffee a day
and increase water intake also adding more protein to my
diet.

I have to say coffee... but I'm down to one cup; please don't ask me to give it all up.

I love not working out (darn lazy, that's all) but I know it's bad for my hair so I will get my act together real soon. Once in a while I'll crave a Coke or Mountain Dew... but I try to stick to Apple Juice and water. I have been taking MSM in orange juice but I don't think my tummy likes citric juices much so I keep them to a minimum.

Re: You love it but it\'s bad for your hair...

I don't know if it's bad for the hair, but I love chocolate! But wait a minute! I forgot that chocolate is a vegetable

(it comes from the cacao bean)
