Since I co-wash at night, my hair is dry on top .. and still damp on the ends and in the middle .. so as I get dressed in the morning, I let the ends dry then
pin them back up before I leave. And usually by the time I'm ready to co-wash again .. that middle part that never gets exposed to air is still relatively damp.

And I also realized, that middle part has grown the longest in this short amount of time ..

Hmm .. could I be on to something?

Does anyone find this to be true for them ?

The same is true for me. The middle dries the slowest, and it's the longest part of my hair. I never really thought one thing had anything to do with the other, but maybe there's something to it. :look:

I think moisture is key to good hair growth and retention (minimal manipulation) and since the middle isn't really exposed to the air/elements, it stays moist longer than say your edges, nape and top. That, and the fact that usually the middle is the least tampered with part of the hair, at least for me, so you have good conditions for great growth. My hair is always wet in the middle, even if I wear it down and air dry, and it is the longest part of my hair as well. Just a thought.

Hair thrives on moisture and water is the best moisture around. I treat my hair like it's a plant, lots of moisture and baggying. I think of my baggying as a sort of green house effect. I wear damp buns a lot now and my crown is flourishing!!!

Hey, lil sista. I think you're on to something. I started baggying a few weeks ago and I think it's helped with my growth. I use my MTG mix, then follow with S-Curl. When I remove the plastic cap in the morning, my scalp and twists are still damp. I let it air dry. I notice that even my nape (the slowest growth area) is growing faster.:yep:

I instantly thought of the rain forest effect. It stays humid there and things grow at a ridiculous rate. That leftover moisture very well may be the key. If only I could do the baggie thing for my entire head all day...

That certailny confirms my belief that everyday co-washing is very great to grow hair quickly. But in fact, what really helps is the WATER not the Conditioner. Actually the Condish doesn't hurt at all, but I am confident one can come up with the same result just by spraying water on ther roots everyday. I am talking for those who don't really have time to co-wash everyday... I bought an Evian water spray 2 months ago, and from time to time I'd use it on my scalp and the growth has been pretty good ever since. I am currently thinking of just using a regular spray bottle with distilled water and EO...just a thought...

I have noticed the exact same thing. I bun at night after co-wash and the hair in middle never really gets dry. My whole head is growing and I retain all my length and my hair is super silky and soft. A friend of mine pointed out though.. She said, If your hair is damp all the time, don't you get fungus on you scalp? I though about it, but my hair is always clean..and I let it breathe, so I don't believe that is a reason to worry about fungus, but it had me thinking.

What do you ladies think?

OKAAAAY! If I could pull that off that would be great!

Hmm, that makes sense, but maybe it's also factors like the ones Eisani mentioned. I only wash once a week and don't even add product to my hair daily and my hair is still the longest in the center. So the center part wasn't the longest for you until you started cowashing?

I've been able to baggy my hair completely because Im wearing a wig and my hair is in twists. I've only been doing this for about three days but my hair feels much better than it has in a while. I am going to try to keep it on as much as possible, my mom was just referring to this as the green house effect too earlier!

It's not the middle of my hair it's a small section towards the back in the center, and it actually grows faster now than the rest of the hair, and it's always damp. [Response to Mwdezi]

Cosigning on the full-headed baggy.

I don't think it would cause a fungus .. its not like it's staying wet 24/7 without drying or being cleaned.

Mamato

Thats really interesting, I always assumed it was the stimulation of the scalp and allowing it to be cleaned ..

Hmmm ..
