Love you ladies! Whoever discovered that yogurt treatment is a Godsend!

Ok so some of you know I was having a bit of difficulty with my hair and other factors. I went to my fav bss to replenish my oyin...discovered something else and I'm loving it!

Anyway, decided I would try the yogurt thing ( I had done this before when I didn't know about deep conditioning with a moisturizing condtioner after and hated it.) After reading that yogurt thread, I revisited the idea and tried it. Bought some yogurt, some msm and came up with this---

*yogurt
*evaporated milk
*saa
*honey
*msm

After I used that, I used my new conditioner (which I absolutely :love3:) and my hair was puuurrrrttty! Back to her oldself.

I'm now ppl on here are picture happy (I hate taking pics) but I guess it's time you gals see what my hairstory. Soon.:yep:

My hair is soft, my waves/curls are there again, it just feels oh so good. I really attribute this to the yogurt treatment and the new products I bought. I'm good real good. Now if only my new products weren't going out of stock over here :wallbash:

I am so glad it worked out well for you. I am getting even more phenomenal results with it by adding the shea butter and, of course, going under the heat cap. Adding MSM is a great addition and I will do that next time, so thanks for that tip.

@ Jas - I'm not really sure (sorry). I was trying to look for yogurt that said full fat but it didn't...so I just looked for one (cheap) that had the most fat. It was 3.5% MF. I wanted to try sour cream or half and half but I wasnt sure I'd get the same results...Anyone tried that?

@ Adw - I am singing like hummingbird since Friday night. I want to try it with Shea too to see what the results would be like...I can only imagine it would be loosened curls and wave but uberly soft, moisturized and nourished.

@ Lyn - I rinsed it out using warm water only. Here's what I did:
  • I pre-mixed my concoctiona nd brought it into the shower with me (didnt want to mess up my bathroom).
  • I shampooed once with an all natural pre-shampoo herbal cleanse (no need to use shampoo).
  • Rinsed.
  • Applied the yogurt concoction in sections...this is very drippy which is why I did it in the shower
  • Applied a plastic bag. Let it sit for no less than an hour
  • Rinsed with warm water
  • Applied deep conditioner
  • Sat under heating cap for no less than an hour
  • Rinsed with lukewarm to cool water
  • Then final rinse with cold water.
The results were just so good. It made my hair get back to her oldself and then some. I thinkt he key is realyl following up with a moisturizing conditoner so that your hair doesn't dry up becuase of the lactid acid. This was my issue the first time I tried it in January. Didn't follow up with anything nad my hair was very dry. I had also used a non-fat yogurt which didn't sit well at all.:nono:

@ Dras - http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=167391&page=2

The MSM is what I think helped much as well. My brand was the Now Brand - GMP approved so the quality is really good. Just about a teaspoon added to it. Lovely.

Bumping for options or sustitutions in using...

Sour cream (replacing yogurt)
Half & Half Cream (replacing whole milk)
Evaporated Milk (replacing whole milk)

I've used yogurt too. Sometimes I add egg whites and mix. Now let me shed a little light on the items above that I've used...

I've used sour cream with lemons which defrizzes the hair like you wouldn't believe. This is good for those that want to straighten, cuts down HALF of the work.
Coconut milk- which I scoop off the chunky fat and save the milk for other applications. I mix the clumps with honey and DC. I also use the coconut milk fat scoops mixed with limes as another defrizzer. The other two items, haven't tried them yet. But would love to hear recipes and results!

ETA~ The coconut milk and honey is an aweseome light protein/heavy moisture DC>

I read this morning that of all of the milk products, yogurt contains the most lactic acid. Also, I add buttermilk powder to mine to thicken with the bonus being that it ups the lactic acid quotient.

I can't wait to try this :happydance:. I am going to mix Dannon Plain Yogurt, honey, SAA, milk, and I may toss in some avocado butter since I did have some good effects from it. I am natural 4b and have been looking for something to loosen my tight coils and make my hair more manageable. I am wigging it right now so I am not hurt to lose some curls. I want to try tonite but I may have to wait until Wednesday :ohwell:. I'll come back with results.
