i usually spray it on my hair then put it into a ponytail. i apply Vaseline on my ends, braid and fold. then i do the baggie and ponytail.
honestly i haven't really used the S-Curl much lately. i've been going for a heavier feel and using the World of Curls gel instead. this is the one:
i mix this one with Fantasia IC gel in a separate container and apply to my hair and ends. then i do the Vaseline, baggie and ponytail.
really, the doing is more important than which products. if you have any curl activator at the house, try the baggie trick with that. the main thing is moisturizing and protecting your ends.
sorry i was inspired by the rocky movies for the title of this thread.
thanks ofr all the info-- but what do you mean by hte baggie trick. do you mean putting th ponytail in a baggie overnight? So you put the curl activator on, then vaseline, braid and then bag it?
first of all i wanted to tell you for the longest time that i love love love your pics on your album. you cracked me up back then, and i love how you posted your progress!!!! i feel bad cause i wanted to tell you this back when i joined this board, but anyway now you know girl
.
now my question is what do you mean with baggie??? i'm lost....
I'm not adrienne, but i think she is talking about when she puts the vaseline on her ends and braid the hair, she puts a bag over the hair first then put the ponytail over it, so the hair stays moisturized all day. Look in her bun/drawstring ponytail pics- i think that is what she is talking about.
I bought the extra dry formula in the tub because it's cheaper than the others. I think I paid $4.99 for 32 oz... I mix it with S-Curl Spray (to make it wetter) and a little holding gel and I'm good to go!
ok went to the beauty supply and i couldnt find that scurl-- but the one i go to is pretty sh***y so it figures that they wouldnt have it. But i did come across wave nouveau moisture sealer. here are the ingredients:
collagen amino acids, acetamide mea, silk amino acids, propylene glycol, deionized water, glycereth-26, glycerine, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, nonoxynol-12, oleth-20, propylene glycol, simethicone.
SO what do you think? Should i not us it because it says its designed for the wave nouveau body perm system-- which i had when i was younger.
i've never used that Wave Nouveau product, but i don't think you have to have that kind of curly perm to use their products. i really like the finishing lotion. the thing about the product you got is how far the glycerine is down on the list. i like to see it in the top 3-4 ingredients, which indicates a higher amount of it.
what other activator products did they have at that beauty supply? how about Hawaiian Silky? the bottle looks like this:
i like that one too as far as spray activator goes.
yeah that was the thing the ingredients were listed in alphabetical order so i really don't know the concentration. Surprisingly i did see that hawaiian silky activator in the beauty supply.
So you use the finishing lotion? I remember when I had the wave nouveau perm my hair grew really well and my hair was really moisturized so i think i might use the sealer. we'll see.
nay, i almost forgot to thank you for the compliment! i'll take those anytime, girl!
your hair is the bomb!! do you still have your album up? i don't remember the address...
luvhair, islandgirl is exactly right about the baggie trick. the pics in that album should give you a pretty good idea. i put my hair in the ponytail after i wash. i usually leave it in the baggie 24/7 until i wash again. i take the ponytail off every evening when i get home though.
sassygirl, i never thought of mixing the two activators. how long have you been doing that? and have you ever used either alone? if so, how does it compare in terms of softness, etc?
