I just wanted to give everyone a heart felt thanks for all the advice you guys have given. I'm on vacation in Orlando right now and I went to my cousins hair stylist. She couldn't stop touching my hair and telling me how soft it felt and how healthy it looked. She even kept grilling me about my hair products and what I planned to do with it over the summer

She and I have the same hair type 4a...but the difference between us was like night and day. Hers looked all dried out and uneven. I let her do a roller wrap for me and she did a decent job, but it was looking a little dry after she was done. Luckily, I brought my spray bottle of jojoba and amla oils with me, so I put a little of that on my hair when I got back to my cousin's place.

Again, thank you guys for all the help. I have a digital camera now, so look for pictures very soon.

Congratulations Kitty!

What would we do without this board? Please share your regime.

Much continued success to you!

Yeahhhhhh Kitty! Hopefully, I'll have as much success as you once I get my hair done and see the possible growth. Keep growing and do share your regime with us!

My regime is quite simple ladies. I have 4a hair and wash once a week. When I wash, I do a pre-wash hot oil treatment with EVOO, castor, hot 6, and rosemary oils for at least 30 minutes. Then, I CO wash with Kenra Moisturizing or Strawberries and Cream conditioner. I do a major wash with Kenra's shampoo once a month. I also clarify once a month and use a protein treatment as needed.

I oil my hair nightly with my mixture of jojoba, amla, sweet almond and castor oils. I think that the jojoba oil is what really made my hair very soft. I was using it alone at first and notice that it was changing the feel of my hair. I really can't say enough about that oil...I use a lot of it and find myself ordering it frequently.

I always air dry my hair and then once its dry I put spray again with my oil mixture and put some VO5 hairdressing on my ends along with CD's Hair Honey. I then flat iron my hair...going through only once. That is the only time that I put heat on my hair. At night I roll the front and top on the large purple rollers and pin up the back. I then put a silk scarf over that and my satin bonnet over the scarf. In the morning, its moisturized, glossy and full of body.

Oh, I relax every 8 to 10 weeks...right now I'm at 7 weeks post relaxer and have hardly any shedding. But, I'm going to go visit a male friend soon so I'll probably go ahead and get another relaxer before I go see him

Any advice on how to wear my hair at night then ladies? He has never seen me in a head scarf before and I must admit that I don't want him to...I can't feel sexy with it on

Upon advice by my almost waist-length haired aunt, I am now taking B-12. I was already drinking one protein shake a day and finishing an old bottle of Evening Primrose Oil. After the EPO is gone, I won't buy any more but I will probably get either some biotin, vitamin E or, B-150. What do you guys think? I'm not much of a pill taker, but I will do it if I can get my hair growing faster.

Oh, I forgot to add that I use 911 as my leave-in treatment and I think that it has really helped with the shedding that I was experiencing.

i wanna say yeeeeeahhh too cause i have gained about..... i dunno...4-5 inches or maybe more of hair since i have been on this site. Also too i gained all this in LESS than a year (which will be in mid-april or so). I also have noticed that i am now over 6 months natural and i havent cut off all of my permed hair yet. lol. My hair texture is quite soft and maintains mositure very well. Comes out so nice. I am not sure if it really is because of it being so long or if its these pills i was taking that made it that way but whatever it is/was its gr8.

When the hairstylists is asking you what you do to your hair to keep it looking good - then you know you are doign something right!
Congrats! Keep it up1

Thank you so much! And I know that I owe it all to this board. Before I came here, my hair was dry, breaking, uneven, and I thought that it would never grow. I was told that I just had "bad hair" and my former stylists would never tell me how to take care of my hair or ask what I was doing to it at home. They all wanted me to come see them every week though.

I'm back at home now, but I remember that the stylist in Orlando told me that even though I had very healthy hair, I should go see my own stylist for more than just my relaxer because " your stylist can help you take care of this healthy hair". Boy, they sure do look out for one another, don't they?

I was "nah, I only wear roller wraps anyway and I can do a good one on my own." I just can't take the chance of anyone setting me back.

And you are so wise. Taking your hair matters into your own hands is always best IMO.

Sounds like you have a good reg. going for you. If it is working well and your hair likes it, stick with it. Hair doesn't like drastic change. Congrats on the complimens from the hair stylist. The is one of the highes forms of hair compliments you can receive. Keep up the good work and Happy Hair Growing!!

I'm so jealous Kitty!!! I had bra strap length hair a little over a year ago and by the advice of a hairdresser I trusted, she said my hair was unhealthy and it needed to be cut back. She got "scissor happy" and cut back up to my shoulders. I wanted to cry when i left the shop. Since then I've been trying to get into the "healthy hair spirit" and it's done me no justice. I grew my hair that long (bra strap length) by myself and made a foolish mistake. I doubt I'd ever trust a stylist again with my hair.

I've notice a lot of you gals live by jojoba oil. Is this something you can by already mixed (at a beauty supply store) or do you make a concoction on your own? Give me the scoop Kitty :O)

Nolechik,

I'm so sorry that happened to you!

Your hair will grow back with time and patience. That's exactly why I don't let stylists do anything for me other than give me my relaxer. You will get your length back though. Jojoba is a wonderful oil. I buy mine from www.fromnaturewithlove.com

You can use the oil alone, which is what I did when I first started using it. Or, you can mix it with other oils. The site that I just gave you does have some oil mixtures, but I like to make my own so that I can control how much goes into the mixture.

Does anyone know how I can start my own photo album? I have one picture that I would like to put up, but don't want to pay. Is the Yahoo folder free? Someone let me know.

Kitty, buy a silk or satin pillow case to sleep on instead of wrapping your head up at night. Hey Kitty, did the primrose oil give you dark circles? also did it make you drowsy? I only take it at night it puts me to sleep like a sleeping pill.

Kitty I was talking about not wrapping your hair up while you are with your honey for only a few days. I live by wrapping my hair up and sleep on a satin pillow case. Have a great time!! Make sure you shave and moisturize those legs (LOL)

I haven't noticed any dark circles. In fact, I haven't noticed a change in anything since taking the EPO and that's why I won't buy it again after I finish this bottle.

Oh, girl I put some Nair on these legs last night and then some Cocoa Butter lotion, so I'm nice and smooth right now. He isn't going to know what hit him...my hair is going to be banging and my legs will be smooth and shining like new money! LOL!!!
