I feel like my hair is so dry being in these twists. I took one down in the back to start doing a touch up and it took forever to take it out. I only washed these twists once in three weeks and as I was pulling it apart it sounding like shredding paper. I looked at the my hair and nothing seemed wrong with it but it was rather dry. I like the look and the compliments I get but I don't think its worth it. I think I am taking them down completely after Thanksgiving. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've never had yarn twist. From what I read it can suck out the moisture, where others are fine. Could it be the brand that makes the difference?

What did you use to moisturize?

I use a spray of aloe vera juice and jojoba oil on my hair at night. Premier botanical spray on my hair in the morning. I use the red heart brand like everyone else.

I find that using a creamy conditioner in your hair while it is in yarn twists/braids helps with the moisture as well.

When I take my yarn braids out, they are usually well moisturised because I moisturise and seal it twice a day and I cowash once a week. For me, just spritzing it doesn't do much for my hair at all, so I also put a creamy conditioner into my hair. Also, I think thickness of the yarn and how much you use in a braid/twist can affect how much moisture your hair is able to get.

I agre that you are going to have to use somthing alot heavier and maybe trim the daily spray/mositure maint. down to every other day? depending on what you use...My daughter has yarn braids that I do myself, and after doing each braid.. I use s curl juice... I also use olive oil, coconut oil, and any other oil like, but I apply it by hand and do not use water. While water is a moitureizer, i think it is diluting the oil that you are using. A friend of mine told me that she used to dip here entire braid/twist in oil and she never had any problems, also, while I am braiding her hiar I make sure to use some oil on each section before braiding. Just my 2 cents! good luck!:look:

P.S. I dont really wash her hair all that often either, about 2 times in a month! peppermint oil on the scalp...and we keep it moving.:yep: I would put her at about a 4a
