Yarn Braid Wearers- do people think it's your real hair?

I installed some yarn braids and have been asked twice if I got a hair cut. I seriously guffawed because these people have seen my nautral hair out and about or in twists before so I would figure they would understand that I don't have that much hair. I think they're just seeing a black cottony texture and going from there. These folks aren't black so maybe that has something to do with it or maybe I just did a really good job. I just said "no" because welllll I didn't technically get a haircut. Does this happen to you when you wear this style?

haha, no. i had a cashier ask me if i had string in my hair. i said no, it's yarn and kept it moving.

i dunno if it matters but she was black and had a beat up weave.

yes people have asked me if it was dreads. and i say no, or if they walk by and say "nice locs" before i can comment and tell them that it is yarn braids i simply nodd and say thank you. then there are my friends that think i had locs then get close to touch and feel then i have to explain to them what is it and i how i didthem and how long they take. all the attention is nice everyonce in a while i suppose.

I haven't worn them myself but I've done them for my mother and they look very realistic - a good match for natural type 4 hair. When I first saw people wearing wrapped braids years ago I thought they were dreadlocs until I read braids n beauty and found out that they were done with yarn.

I used to wear them all of the time. I went to church and people with real dreadlocks started asking me how long I had my locs for! I took them out and one lady ask me why I cut my locs.
