I didn't realize how short it was until I just took this picture. The photo to the left was taken NYE and I know my hair wasn't even and was quite stringy (I hadn't trimmed since April 21) But still it just seems like alot. The bright side of things, is that my hair is now even. My nape and edges are fully grown in and perhaps I can start '08 right. Even, thicker hair and we'll see what happens next. But damn I miss my hair. :ohwell: I guess I will have to change my avatar now. Cuz that is not my hair.

Well look at it like this, even though you lost some length your hair looks and (probably) feels better. Plus you will gain the length back in no time if your routine is solid. I had to cut 4 inches of hair off due to heat use over the summer and so I know how you feel.

Although I think the trim was needed, I really wish hairstylists would make sure clients are comfortable with what is being cut. I have vowed to never go to another stylist for a cut ever again. Most do not respect the fact that even though ur hair looks good to them, it may not be practical for ur lifestyle (styles u want to do, whether u exercise or not and need a decent ponytail, if ur natural and have major shrinkage), so i understand how u feel. I got butchered during the holidays. I was blunt APL and now I have stupid layers and its not like my hair is majorly thick either.

I know how you feel. I got a trim this wekend. and although my hair is shorter, I know I really needed it.:ohwell: It's for the best. I think the longer we wait to trim the more harm we cause in the long run.

Sometimes a good trim is needed and makes your head feel so much better. I know it looks like she took off a lot but it looks like she did what she thought was best. Trimming the dead ends and evened everything out - in the long run I think you will be happy with the outcome.

I've reached BSL - but I know I need a good trim now.

Your hair looks much healthier and it will grow out thicker :)

I agree. Keep a solid regimen and it will all come back longer and thicker. Look at it as a chance to start over and do it even better this time around. We all want our hair to grow long, but a lot of the time we sacifice the over all health of the hair. Long means nothing if its not healthy. We are rooting for you HHG.

ITA! It'll grow back (longer and thicker) in no time. :yep:

IA with all of the posts above. She definitely gave you a cut rather than a trim, but your hair will grow back thicker and stronger than before now that you have a fresh start.

Wow that is a lot. Thats why i dont trust a stylists hands and a pair of scissors anymore.

this has happened to me too so dont feel bad. just remember that this time around, you need to do more to keep your ends protected. i got a BIG trim a few months back , and now i baggy under my half wig , and try to keep my ends tucked in as much as possible.

Look at the bright side, your hair looks a lot better. It also looks a lot fuller :yep:

She was wrong for what she did, but it does look good :)

This is tone of the many reasons why I haven't set foot in a salon in over 6 years and won't ever again. Sorry about that. Hope it grows back fast.

I know it hurts to have so much hair cut off but, your hair does look better/healthier IMHO. It's going to look more even/fuller when it grows out. Your stylist should have asked your permission first though.

Honestly, those ends would have to go regardless. He cut less than he could have (assuming you didn't give him specific length instructions).
You'll be back at your old length in no time and it'll be thick :yep:

I feel your pain because this recently happened to me, and I was truly upset, but at the same time relieved because I knew that my ends had to go. Sometimes we try to hold on to the length and "wait it out" when in the long run it will only cause more problems. I knew I had a million split ends and that my ends were thin and see-through, but I was so excited about having length that I didnt want to see it go. But you know what? After the "trim" I got on my A-game, started moisturizing and using BT and when I went to get a touchup a few days ago, not only did my hair look much healthier, but the length that I thought was gone I had gained back in less than a month. The hard part is over for you now and the best thing to do is look forward to better growth with much healthier ends.

I do agree that it is a cut, not a trim and wish that more stylists would be apprehensive about their clients feelings when it comes to their hair.

I want to see your hair dry because it looks like you needed it. But I can't be sure.

It will grow back though. I'm cheering for you!

On the plus side, your hair looks a LOT better now. You had like 3 inches of very thin ends.

But I understand how hard it is to let that hair go even if it is damaged.

it was a needed trim. Dont worry your hair will grow back fuller and longer with alot of TLC!:yep:

about half a year b/f I came to LHCF, I had to cut off like 4 inches of stringy ends b/c they were so damaged so I understand. But the stylist should have let you know that it would be a cut, not a trim!

My sister does hair and when she cut it off, she made sure to tell me that she'd be cutting a lot and asked for my approval b/f she did it..

I agree. I had uneven thin hair when I first joined and I slowly cut it even. It felt and looked much better as I cut it even.
You're already ahead of the game now with your cut! :yep: Just keep growing!
