I don't really mind the dust especially if it's one of my favorite products. Irefuse to buy anything with faded, torn, or outdated packaging. I was in a convenient store a while back and saw an old relaxer kit on a shelf. I could have sworn that product was manufactured in the 80's because I haven't seen that type of package in years.

No. I went to the Indian grocery store the other day and all the black products were stashed in a corner, covered in dust. Ick.

But if it was the very last bottle of the original Africa's Best Herbal Oil, I would buy it so fast!

Those you may not find...I noticed they were becoming scarce so scooped up so many at cut rate prices:yay:! I bet others did the same so should you find...grab 'em! I will check dates{sneak a sniff if I can} of a favorite then buy it if it is still OK dust no problem..

Dust has nothing to do with the efficacy of the product. What many people don't know is how the long the product has sat in a box in a warehouse. The preservative system of most products make them stable for well over five (plus) years.

That being said, I would avoid products with obvious signs of improper storage such as faded labeling or sun exposure, warped or leaking packaging and anything with obvious tampering such as finger prints or missing product.

Dust doesn't scare me but products where people dip their fingers in scare me more.

Um, yes. Especially if it is marked down or on sale. Mama's wallet says "Thank you!" Go to any health food store and most of that stuff is dusty because nobody is trying to pay that outlandish cost for some herbal lipstick.

No! :cry2:

At Sallys? Maybe

At the "foreign owned" places; HailNo. They get ridiculous distributor deals on that stuff, so as far as I'm concerned any purchase I make there (god forbid) will be for a quality & Clean item.

Yup sure would, I stay looking for Surge at the bss, hoping one day I'll find one that fell behind the new products!

I say yes because there are ALOT of uneducated people out there that use products that are SOOO bad for there hair.
(It makes me cringe watching my mom put that nasty black gel on her edges in the morning)

Just because it is in the "ethnic hair care" section of walmart in the WAYYY back doesnt mean its good for our hair.

SO yes the stuff with dust on it may be a hidden gem that has yet to be discovered. IDK just a thought

Nope. I can also tell if a product is old by the design. Like at dollar general they still had Tresemme bottles from 06 :lachen::lachen:

A Beauty Shop or Salon Product yes! (With the Exception of Relaxer - Definite NO!)

A Natural or Handmade - probably no! (Although I will buy a Clearance or discontinued item)

It depends, I've seen some products that I know for a fact were no longer in production(I'm talking from.the 80's), definitely wouldn't buy those.
