to play in my hair...
I got my hair braided about 6 1/2 weeks ago, professionally. IDK why, because I taught myself how to do indivduals and I am good. But the last time I thought I would treat myself. What a treat, I ended up spending most of the time trying to tell these heffas not to braid too tight and not to part too small. I kept telling them that I was not concerned with how 'cute' it looked I just wanted it braided. What a mistake. By the end we found a somewhat happy medium. I was still a little pissed. I ended up rebraiding some in the front b/c they were too tight. About 3 weeks after I start breaking out Now I take immaculte care of my skin, you can imagine my reaction to this. I was a bit stressed out around that time so it could have been that but I am thinking, is it the hair,(4 idiots couldn't soak the hair to remove the alkaline base out correctly:perplexed ) did they braid it too tight in areas I can't tell? My *** is tossing and turning last night thinking that my hair is going to come out when I take it out. Why am I so paranoid about these braids? Am I itching to take them out b/c I just wanna play in my hair? Just wondering if I am buggin or if anyone else has experienced this. Well, I am not waiting until June 1st. I plan to take them out next week I just can't take it anymore, my intuition is telling me to take this suckers out asap.

I don't get braids but my daughters get them all the time. What do you mean about soaking the hair? Is there something harmful in it? Are you referring to human or synthetic? Now I'm concerned...

Synthetic. I used kankenelon.(sp?) The Crown and Glory Technique teaches you to soak the hair in vinegar and warm water for 10-15 mins before you braid to remove the alkaline base which can potentially be harmful. You can actually see the white residue when it's soaking. The two previous times I braided my own hair and soaked the hair I had no problems. I don't know if it causes breakage, bumps, etc. but just talking about it concerns me because they did a half-a$$ed job soaking mine....oh they're coming out!
I will never, ever, ever, let anyone braid my hair again, as good as I am I should slap myself for letting someone else do it.

Oh! Ewwwwww!! I never knew that. I will tell them because they have used hair right out of the package and last time I coincidentally had to give my daughter a Benadryl the same night.

I don't think you are paranoid. I can't go for longer than a month before I get the " I need to take these braids out" itch. I personally don't think it's healthy on your hair to leave them in for months at a time (At least not on my hair) because it can be very damaging. Please keep us posted on the condition of your hair when you take them out.

Actually crown and glory recommends that you keep it for 8 weeks and I am at 6/7 weeks, the last time I kept them in for 6 weeks. I was trying to go longer. You are right Bre Bre, it's time to take um out. I will let you guys know the progress right about next week when I take them out. I just can't wait.:)

I did my braids three weeks ago.
I plan on keeping my braids in for about 4 - 6 months.
lets see what happens.
I have done this before and nothing happen to my hair.
