I was supposed to go and get the rest of the relaxer cut off tomorrow at a salon (15 months post relaxer). I've been wearing wigs since January to help with the transition. Hubby's tired of the 'helmet', so I was supposed to go get it done. but... I'M SCARREEDDD!!!

First, I don't know if I should let a stylist cut it, if she'll cut my natural hair along with the relaxer. Should I do it myself or let someone else that I know do it?

Second, reading how some people are natural yet they're tired of the tangles, dryness, knots, shrinkage is giving me second thoughts big time.

Is there a 'keep it real' van that will have some LHCF sistas in it, snatchin' people into it, doing their hair, then kick them out of it?

Don't be scared; we are here for you. Sometimes you have to take that leap inorder to get to where you want to be. Who've stuck with this for 15 months, why do you want to quit now. If you aren't ready, take a few days do think about why you wanted to go natural in the first place....:yep: I hope that you make the decision that you will be comfortable and happy with... (((((HUGS))) :bighug:

I say do it yourself, then go to a salon so they can put on the finishing touches...

Good luck!

I agree, that way you will feel more in control. But if you are really scared, maybe give yourself another month or so. Don't be discouraged by some of us who are having issues with being natural. Most of us have no regrets about going natural, it is a wonderful experience, a learning experience, but people do get bored or change their mind or want to try something different, don't let that affect you.

aaaawww good luck. it would be okay :yep: i agree with the others make the cut yourself and let the stylist even it out...

Excellent idea!! I cut my own hair, and you are so much in control, start by doing a little, then go over it until you get down to the natural hair. When I did the BC, I snipped on it for almost 2 weeks until I felt I had all the relaxed ends off. Sometimes stylists get scissor happy, so be careful. In any event, we're here for you girl, so don't be afraid!

ITA! This is a great method. You take it off gradually and it won't feel so intense. I cut my own hair and I don't regret it one bit.

I agree with everyone that posted above me.

15 months transition! Kudos honey! Transitioning is hard.

I agree with reflecting back to why you wanted to go natural and cutting it yourself.

Shrinkage is just apart of being natural and I'm surprised to say this but before I did the BC I wanted no part in shrinkage, now I embrace it. Its funny how things change.

I have "issues" with scissors and other folks near my head lol.

Good Luck!! I can't wait to see your BC Pix!! Yay!!

Plus remember you don't have to cut it at all. You can wear your relaxed ends if you want to - nobody should be stopping you.

I transitioned to natural over time (without the big chop) slowly getting my relaxed ends trimmed away until I was 100% natural....years later, I'm texlaxed and loving it.

It's hair! It will grow back and you can change it on the spur of the moment.

Thank you ladies sooo much!! I'm feeling better! Now, who wanna just chop it for me...:sekret:,. Naw, I'll do like you said and start snipping it myself. Plus, I think I would feel mad to spend over $100 for someone to do the same thing.
