Hey Ladies,

I'm Natural 4a-c, and have been natural for about 2 1/2 years. I just started my career, and although I like having natural hair, I think maybe it's time to move on... I love my curls, but I miss having straight hair that moves and swings. I miss seeing length.

I've learned so much from this board, and how to care for my natural hair, that I feel maybe it's time to test some of the other hair care tips, but on relaxed hair.

What to do...:(

BTW - I currently have my hair in cornrows, but need to get them redone or need to change styles. Suggestions please

You may want to try a texturizer. That will allow you to wear your hair curly when you want, but will also make straightening your hair a little easier/less damaging. For example, you can do rollersets (by pulling a little harder), but you can also wear your hair curly.

Maybe, but I heard that a lot of times texturizes break off the hair because it can be over processed or under processed.

Question for ladies with a texturizer - how many of you love it? how many of you wouldn't do it if you could turn back the hands of time?

I have a texturizer -- texturized with Affirm Fiberguard Relaxer. I absolutely love it. My hair is 3c/4a and even before I texturized I could set it on rollers and it would straighten -- for about 10 minutes, as soon as I went outside it would revert immediately. Now I can wash and go, or set it/press it and it will stay for a few days. So I don't regret it at all.

Also, I seem to retain more length now. I am not sure if that is because I am taking better care of my help (with all the tips from LHCF) or because it is easier to keep detangled now that it is texturized. My hair may be somewhat underprocessed as I did the texturizing myself and was afraid to have it come out too straight. But it's fine and much healthier than before.

I have pressed it in the past, but it's so thick that it reverts. Plus, the burnt hair smell is not cool.

I guess I want options before committing.....
