Will relaxers ever become a thing of the past?

[size=+2]Just wondering:)

I believe that in the future people will move away from chemicals and stop using permanent solutions on their hair (stop using relaxers, perms and hair dyes).

We probably won't be alive though.:ohwell:

I see it coming...especially after becoming a LHCF member. I'm still trying to move away from the artificial products, but it's hard. All of these commercials and new products in stores now.:drool:Most of them are junk anyway.:ohwell:

Hmmm. I always saw the future as having more synthetic things and chemicals. Maybe if there was a pill you could take:D

Yep, and I'll take that pill too.:lol:

Yeah...the future more than likely will have more synthetic things and chemicals, but those synthetic things and chemicals will be natural as possible.

Scientists keep discovering new problems with certain chemicals, and people are getting tired of wondering if products are safe or not.

...and the way companies are making clothes and furniture out of recycled products. A few years ago, I saw a couch that was made from recycled pastic. It looked like real fabric. I don't know how it's done...I guess fabric is blended into it. Companies and people are putting to use those products that are not biodegradable. I believe that they will spot make products that are not biodegradable...they will have to.

We are learning from our past. I don't think the people in the future will repeat the past...if they know better.

no because natural hair isn't seen much on celebrities. as long as celebrities continue to rock the relaxed look i doubt it will be a thing of the past. im not against relaxers just so no one thinks that. thats just how i see it.

I can't imagine taking a shuttle to Mars (to go shopping or go on vacation) and have to worry about my getting a retouch first or how my no-lye relaxed hair is going to act in the dry, Mars atmosphere. :nono:

Everything is speeding up, getting faster and easier. The world is shrinking daily with the Internet and other new technologies. All of this I see as a good thing as we launch into a whole new world. I have living relatives who were around in the horse and buggy days and they are simply amazed at where we are now. They are living in a whole new world in their lifetime.

Sure, we'll continue to have relaxers for a very short period of time and then we'll launch into a another arena, leaning towards natural, non-chemical ways of achieving exactly what we want. As I mentioned on another thread, there could be a food that's been growing all along that when eaten, it relaxes our hair. I posted about the persimmon seed that does the opposite and makes hair curly/kinky, something discovered a few decades ago and used today in some hair products. I believe we are moving towards a more holistic society and world rather than a chemical one.:)

i truly believe relaxers will be a thing of the past. Have you ladies seen the post maybe a month or so ago about a company that produces a pill to take daily and it relaxes the curl. the pill is a horomone and they've figured out what causes a persons hair to naturally curl and the horomone stops the curl. they have clinical trials going on and everything. i know i sound crazy but i truly think this will be the future. Our great grandkids will giggle at us when we tell them that we used to put lye on our heads and burn our heads. I'm sure the discovery is in it's infancy stage and it will take YEARS to perfect it so that it's marketable and not dangerous. i look forward to it...
