I noticed that scurl just wasnt doing it for me anymore in the dead of winter, so i have been using NTM silk touch leave-in cream for about 2 weeks now.

The problem is, the second ingredient is cyclopentasiloxane (which is a silicone). Im just really worried that using this on my dry hair will eventually lead to a major disaster. Do silicones really seal out moisture and cause building up?. :crybaby:Has anyone had any negative effect from using this product? I'm so confused and worried

TIA

I also found this blurb on wikipedia about this ingredient:
"Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicone fluid commonly used in cosmetics such as deodorants, sunblocks and hair sprays. It is becoming more common in hair conditioners, as it makes the hair easier to brush without breakage. It is also used as part of silicone based personal lubricants. However,if you use to much on your skin it can stay in your body tissue for over 5 years. Cyclopentasiloxane is an emollient."

Personally, my hair likes cones. Just make sure ALL of your products aren't big on cones. As long as you chelate/clarify, you should be ok. You may have to do so more often but it depends on how you hair reacts.

i personally only use cones when im using heat. be careful how often you use NTM. my hair didnt like it all :nono:

I was using the NTM before the cold weather set in. Once it got cold, the NTM was not cutting it for me. I have since switched to the Burdock Butter Creme. So far so good :yep:

Like the Shtow suggested, If you really like it try clarifying more to help prevent build up. I didn't try that though...I just stopped using it :ohwell:

I don't know anything about NTM.... but did the Scurl stop moisturizing like it used to? This happened to me to until I used Scurl and sealed in with castor oil. Now my hair is back to moist again.... even in the dead of the winter. HTH.

You can shampoo your hair with a mild clarifying shampoo if its a product that works for you. Some peoples hair like cones and others dont. So that something you are going to have to experiment with.
My hair likes cones but since I dont use shampoo- I get build up and the dryness on my strands.

hmmm...i like the sound of that. I actually have some castor oil sitting in my fridge right now (didnt know how else to store it :lachen:). Isn't it too thick though? do you mix it with anything? the smell gets to me sometimes :(

use it, see how your hair feels and base your decision on that..:)

funny that you'd say that because that's precisely what i was doing before i decided to ask...:spinning: I was just scurred outta my wits so i'm glad someone else thinks that's an ok appoach

does ACV count as a clarifier for cones? I am considering doing conditioner washes (with an ACV final rinse) twice a week and using a clarifying shampoo every other week (also with an ACV final rinse)...how did you fix the dryness you got?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE RESPONSES LADIES...i appreciate you :yep:
