Will MSM help my problem area?

Starting tomorrow I will begin taking MSM along with my daily Nioxin pill. I’ve seen results with the Nioxin alone, however, my problem area is not doing as well as I would like. I am hoping the MSM will at least help soften the texture in the problem area. For as long as I can remember my left side behind my ear has been dry brittle and slow growing.

Is there anyone out there who has used MSM and gotten results for a dry brittle slow-growing area?
