I purchased two half-wigs for the first time in a long time and am sporting them with my hair out in the front for the first time ever. I have a curly one that I'm rockign this week and I had a straight one I rocked a a couple weeks ago. I really like the curly one, but the problem that I'm having is blending my hair. It is not the texture that is throwing me off, but the color of my hair versus the wig.

See the problem is henna. I henna my hair and as a result I have that slight reddish tint to it. It is not very noticeable on its own, but up against a 1b wig, I can tell. In doors it isn't too much of an issue, but if I were to go into a brightly lit area, I worry about the dramatic difference showing up and shouting to the world I'm wearing a wig.

So I'm at a loss for what to do. I did an Indigo over henna one time (maybe a year ago at this point) but it didn't seem to take. I do have a packet left over that I never used, because I thought what is the point of doing all that extra work for it not to take. I was growing out color at the time, so that could have been it. And I still have some of the color on the ends of my hair, so if that's the reason for it not taking, then it would still wouldn't work now.

I thought of doing a black rinse or dye, but I'm kind of scared to color my hair b/c it never seems to really like it. But then again, when I did dye my hair, I knew nothing about maintaining moisture/protein balance.

If I forego dying or indigo, then that leaves me with trying to find the right wig color for my hair. Last time I tried a 1 which was too dark, but a 2 didn't seem right either.

Anyone is going/has gone through this same issue with wigs b/c of using henna. All advice on deck, please.

I'm leaning towards the rinse, but if I do the rinse, can I still henna over that or do I have to choose?

TIA

Lots of people have highlights put in the top or front of their hair. So I'd just pass off the henna'd leave out section as highlights. It can still look natural if your wig fiber/hair is a close enough match to your own hair. Alternatively if you want solid 1/1b color then wear a full wig.

Thanks. I don't want a full wig because I want to be able to pin my hair up. Also I like having my grey/henna streak showing in the front (even with a lace-front). Honestly I may just be tripping. You know how your flaws always seem to jump out at you.

I don't have one out in the sun.

I have the same issue...but just going to stick with the Henna and use a color stick for the strays..

I like the bright streak in teh front, it's the rest of the leave-out. But what is this color stick you speak of Kiowa. I'm intrigued.
