I LOVE the versatility of wigs and the protection they give my hair but I cannot stand that the hair makes the back of my neck itch. What can I do to stop the itchies? I know I am not the only one because I have heard other people say the same thing but no one seems to have any solutions. FYI, I primarily wear synthetic wigs.

I'm not a wig wearer, but many years ago when I did wear them I would "cut\trim" that back hairline to stop the itching.

Either that, or coat your neck area with a good moisturize to stop the itchies...

HTH...

I've never had that issue with the neck area, but I did with some synthetic bangs. Got on my dang nerves. At first I thought I just wasn't use to bangs, but in retrospect I think it was the quality of the hair since the wig I have now has bangs and it doesn't bother me.

You could always try soaking the wig in fabric softner/cheapo conditioner.

It may have an alkaline base which could be causing an allergic reaction around the back of your neck. If so, give it a vinegar bath to remove it.

I co washed my wigs & let them air dry. This helps cut down on the itchyness (sp).

I am going to give your tips a try asap because my new wig looks so cute on me.

I should have described the itchiness better: it's like I am laying on a bunch of tiny needles. I am guessing it's the strands of hair pricking the back of my neck. I've tried smoothing it with condish but I have yet to try the vinegar and fabric softener tricks.
