Why is my stretched air-dried hair so straight

Sorry I have no photos. I have not used heat in about two months and I am planning on not using heat until the October. I have been washing my hair in sections then after washing, flat-twisiting or cornrowing it and air-drying it. I expect my hair to turn out stretched, but not as straight as it has been turning out lately :ohwell:

I have 4a hair, (although I have never been able to achieve a nice WnG, how do you gus do that anyway) and when I wet my hair, there is complete reversion. Also the effect is more pronounced at my nape.

Is there anybody else who has noticed the same? If I tried rollersetting(at which I suck) would this strange phenomenon ensure nice results?
Thanks for the responses in advance.

Mines do the same thing so much so that people thought I was relaxed or something. Not sure why it happens but I think using a product like Cantu shea butter should help define your sets more, plus add moisture and protect your ends from breakage. Also on my edges I try and get them damp and then use ecostyler gel and a satin scarf around my edges to define my waves, the best I can.

As far as WNG with our type hair you need to make sure the hair is sopping wet. You want it detangled and a light leave in applied.

Then you want to part your hair in sections (I do about four). Take each section and take smaller sections and rake gel or your coil clumping conditioner through(I say conditioner because Shea and Mango cholesterol from Dollar General defines my hair just as well as gel) each section.

When you are all done you want to shake your hair like your crazy. I mean really get some shaking action going on to help define and clump your coils. Then style with a headband which is what I do cause it's too short to wear loose for me, or wear it loose. Some good products are the shea and mango I mentioned above, Ecostyler gel the pink, white, or olive oil one. Or Kinky Curly Curling Custard if you have the bucks.

Some people seal with oil somewhere in there too be in after the leave in or after the gel. The key is to do this on sopping wet hair and to shake your head to get the coils clumped. Also DO NOT touch your hair until it completely dries or it will be frizz city. I prefer to air dry but you can sit under a dryer or diffuse if that suits you. GL and HHG

:yep: If I put my hair in braids and leave them in for a day or so (with very little shea butter) my hair is straightish. The only thing not straight are the ends.

Me too. My hair is straight, I thought it was just me because everytime I see folks posting pics of their hair type I see coils of some sort even on 4b. My hair is kinky type 4 but with really no coils or curls :shrugs: i have no idea.
I have nothing contructive to add except, yep I feel you.
