I know the lord will provide anything and everything we need if we ask, but... THEY GOTTA HAVE SOME STASH OF HAIR SECRETS! Am I the only one with a congregation of women with gorgeou hair? Is it bc they are/have been natural for so long? Even the KiDS have gorgeous hair! Is bc of the big hats? Going to the salon every week?:lol::lol::lol::confused::confused::confused::confused:

There was a thread a while ago on one of the 'P' denominations. I think it was the Pentecostals.

Apparently they have long hair and take 'a woman's hair is her glory' seriously.

Good to know...
But Just joking around.
I just want to know if anyone else has to suffer in church from envy of the congregation's or someone in the congregation's gorgeous hair.

I have noticed that too. Also the little girls do as well. I wonder what is the secret?

:perplexed Not at my church!! I would say there are a handful of 'heavenly' haired beauties...Sometimes I think about starting a new ministry to hook some sistas up

Mines neither. :look: There is not one black women past SL, at my church. Some of their hair is PRETTY, but not healthy ya know.

Well honestly, since I REALLY got a serious relationship with the Lord, my hair has never looked better. I think it's the Holy Spirit. God wants His daughters to be a beautiful representation of Him.

HA! That ain't right! But it's funny and true to an extent! And I've been in church my WHOLE life....

My church is quite WEAVED up (and I was one of them!) but there are a number of sistahs that have BEAUTIFUL, I mean BEAUTIFUL HAIR! From what I have observed through the years, the ones with the pretty pretty hair pretty much keep it simple: low manipulation, don't get crazy w/color or a whole bunch of overstyling.

And yes, the Holy Spirit will keep a sistah looking really good and healthy...that's no joke. And I can also testify that after close to 30 years of relaxers, my natural hair is growing in really nicely...my hair follicles survived!:)

OT: Cleve Gyrl that rollerset is banging sista.

Back OT: I do see some broken down or over-weaved damaged hair occasionally at my church, but for the most part, I think the women at my church have vastly more healthy natural (that's to say their own vs. weave) hair than I see on the streets.

You said it!

I prayed and the Lord brought me here, I prayed and He increased my wisdom about vitamins, hair, plants, and oils. I prayed:notworthy and he has allowed me to create my own natural hair products, I have a hair ministry I never saw coming. I have started to ask the Holy Sprit about everything I do; now He's helping me focus on my weight loss.
So Holy Sprit/ Prayer/Our God = Blessings

And all the Glory belongs to the Lord God ABBA:clapping:

ITA it's God. He sends the Holy Spirit to give direction and guidance to his children in all matters.

Could be coincidental, could not be, I've definately seen a mixture of damaged in healthy hair in every church I've ever stepped foot in, no different than any school, or community. But I believe spirit-filled religious women take extra care of themselves all around, there is a discipline involved in religion that becomes a quality that leaks into other areas of their lives. Spiritual women just have a natural glow, long or short hair, external reflecting the internal.

I'll tell you how they have gorgeous hair.....wigs and weaves baby! It's unbeweaveable how much foney hair comes in the sanctuary. But the wigs are fabulous though, I have to say. it's like wigs/weaves and the Lord go hand in hand with alot of women.

But all jokes aside, my church is pretty versatile when it comes to their hair styles and condition. We have a number of groups that all of the women can be put in. We have our group of braiders, our foney pony group, the wig group (realistic looking and otherwise), our natural kinky sistas, our over processed in color and relaxers group, and our colored just right and healthy long hair group. I get a lot of style and color ideas from these women and whatever they choose to rock looks good on them....most of them :ohwell: I have been praying as well for God to make me whole not only in my spirit but in my body as well. I can't quote that our body is our temple and not take care of it the way He intends for us to from our hair down to our toenails. This year I am working to build a healthier me in the name of the Lord. We should all work toward this not just with our hair but everything!

Well, I have a theory, I think knowing you're going to a social gathering with loads of people putting their (mostly) best foot forward makes you want to step your game up, so you get your hair done (steamed, conditioned, styled etc) every week in preparation ergo....generally quite nice healthy hair, weaves, wigs etc. I'm Muslim but my mum's family's Catholic and believe me they (her sis and cousins) plan ahead and break out the hot new outfits, bags, shoes, make-up, freshly done rollersets/weaves/braids every Sunday yes, even for early morning mass, and then discuss whichever family member (or her son, daughter etc) came out looking a hot mess!

ETA: Forgot to mention the hats and bright headscarves..

At my church the Pastor's wife is a hairdresser. She does all of our hair and she will do it for free if need be. There are the few who choose not to but no comment on that. Plus I give her a lot of info on new products and methods from here and she is not shamed to try it and find what works best. Plus since I went natural she began to get more info on the proper care and hairstyles so everyone whether you relaxed, natural, or texturized will look good. She also isn't scissor happy and will get on you about using too much heat etc. Q

I've never seen this in any church I've ever been too. At the most there are maybe less than a handful with long healthy hair. I mean, most 'do their hair' for church in nice styles but, i don't see any out of the norm. I see a lot of gorgeous weaves though!

I know plenty of non-Christians, including quite a few Pagans who have beautiful, long hair. (I guess the Goddess is blessing them.) ;)

It's funny, I've noticed that too. At the church I went to once with this guy I was seeing, they mostly had long pressed hair.

I think it has to be with our lifestyle. We do not drink alcohol, do drugs, or put our bodies thru a lot of stress. We sleep well and our bodies have time to recover to give us great hair and nails. :)

Overall the Lord is good to us!:)

I don't think it's all wigs and weaves...at least not at my church home. I see a lot of really gorgeous real hair, and I firmly believe it's part of the amaizing blessing of being in an intimate relationship with God. As was mentioned, He blesses His children in All things.

I agree that it's a micro section of anywhere else, weaves, wigs, tore up from the floor up hair!

There are two young ladies whose hair I  and I drool over every Sunday!

maybe they all go to the hair salon on Saturdays so the hair looks perfect on Sunday and I am certain there is a level of competition.

Really they don't, I noticed that alot of the older ladies have alopecia mostly from meds, and many of the younger ones have 7th grader hair. Lots of weaves and wigs.

The ones that have nice have, really do have nice long healthy hair but they are far and few inbetween at least here in DFW.

That's what I was trying to say with the discipline, to most it's not even disciple, just the way they live their lives and take care of themselves overall, and it shows in the hair, nails, & skin.

yes girl! there is this one girl at my church whose hair is always silky!! and it grows fast .. and here I am trying to nurse my hair and it is at a standstill! so I know exactly how u feel. Some people don't have to do anything to their hair and it just thrives.. and then u have people like me whose hair will fall off in a heartbeat if I don't baby it !!

it's the annointing! haha - That's is #1. but # 2 is although the Holy Spirit does his part, we have to do our part, and I believe the weekly discipline of going to the hairdresser for healthy hair is also a factor.

My Mom belongs to a Pentecostal church and the women there don't believe in altering the hair in any way. No chemicals+no heat=healthy hair, for the most part. I've gone to church with her a few times and most of the female members have beautiful heads of hair.

I think some of the older women were lucky when they were growing up to have grandmothers, mothers or family friends who knew just how to take care of their hair concerning the dos and don'ts. Also, I think the older women may have beautiful hair now because they have made their mistakes when they were younger and learned from them. Plus, I think that some of the younger mothers like myself are way more knowledgeable about hair care nowadays either through researching with books and online or by asking other mothers who have long hair and have kids with long hair. There are some adorable little girls at my church. Many of them have shoulder length hair atleast or below SL. There is one little girl with waste-length hair and she has a sister who is probably a couple of years younger who has hair that is about midback. I love looking at them [and hate looking at them :p] I used to want to ask their mama questions but I never did. I do wonder if she is a LHCF member or maybe she just knew her stuff. In addition, I am sure that the women's bible study meetings get off track sometimes and conversations lead to discussing family, giving compliments, news, and of course Hair Care. Then, they bring the convo back to Jesus. ;)
