Why does our hair itch when a chemical

is about to be applied? This is a totally nonsensical post not necessarily warranting an answer from anyone, but just voicing a "How come?"

It seems the night before I'm about to get a touch up, my scalp decides to itch. I'm not even gonna ask the obvious question, " Is it just me?" cause I know this probably happens to us all.....Sigh!

Sometimes my scalp does, and sometimes my scalp doesn't. At my last touch up, I didn't even need my scalp based. I had no itchies.

Hey AZ. Yes, I get that incredible itch too. I always find myself patting my head like crazy the day before my touch-ups.

The last time I got a touchup I was doing good all week at not scratching my scalp, then the night before, all of a sudden it wants to start acting up!!! Dang!! I HATE that!!

HAHAH thats so funny and so true. I know that the reason it happens for me is because I end up doing a lot of conditioning and I space out washing, and I think my scalp is protesting that. But you all are right that the night before my scalp goes nuts. I think just because I'm trying to avoid combing, brushing, etc, it just goes nuts from lack of contact....

I never have a problem with itches, but if i know i'm getting a relaxer my scalp will be on fire!!!

Yep the same thing with me too.

I now use the Profect Anti Itch serum which actually works. I don't know what's in that stuff but it calms my scalp down nuff. My kitchen area was itching so bad last night I thought it was gonna bleed the way I was scratching it. As soon as I put this stuff on...Pooof it stopped.

As far as me and Profectiv, the Pink one is the only one I have. It's like on my top 5 list!

And to all you other itchy ladies (with the exception of Allandra who seems to be currently immune), I'm glad I'm not alone cause Misery Loooooves Company!

My scalp always itched when it was time for a relaxer. It was soooo annoying. I am glad that those days are over.

Ditto! That is why i think my itches...I'm oiling my scalp constantly to soften up my new growth and I can't wash my hair before the perm!
