Why does it have to be the night before?

I have read that one should grease thier head the night before a relaxer. Why not do it right before you relax your hair if you are very gentle with it?

I don't think it matters that much, if you do it the night before it's has a chance to spread over the scalp more. JMO

Its not necessary to base your scalp the night before your touch-up, some do it some dont. When I used to relax my hair I always based my scalp the same day of my touch-up with no problems.

I agree with dlewis. It is probably recommened so that while you are asleep the grease has a chance to melt from your body-heat, it spreads over most of the scalp.

My stylist will base right before a relaxer and I didnt have any ill effects. She told me I could at night or sometime before I come in just in case she has other clients but I think anytime before your relaxer night before or right before will be okay
