Why do ladies rollerset then silkwrap?

I have been watching a lot of youtube videos about silk wrapping
and in all of them the person does a rollerset and then silk wrap after.

is that the only way to do a silk wrap?
and why would you curl your hair just to straighten it?

Please don't take offense I am confused and really want to learn

Roller setting straightens the hair. Silk wrapping smoothes the hair.

Its just an alternative to flat ironing straight. Many of the ladies don't like to use direct heat.

But not every wraps it after.

I don't always do it, but for me it gives my hair body and I can get a straight look with some added volume, which is the best of both worlds.

My hair is fine and rollersetting helps to straighten my hair and give it body. Silk wrap helps it to get straighter than just leaving it with rollerset. When I want a different look, I flat iron it so that its straight with no curl.
