i ask a hair stylist what type of moisturizer do they suggest, they look at me crazy and say all I need is oil sheen or a light serum? they state that after conditioning with a moisture conditioner, then apply a leave in; all the hair will need for maintence is oil sheen or serum. Idk what to think, 2 of them are very good, very experienced hair dressers. side note, whenevery I get my hair done, it is moist and light.

Probably because they're trying to preserve their style.
SOME hair stylists are just about presentation, not health. You are their walking calling card...and moisturizers could "taint" their work, lol.

However, on a sn: when I wear my hair straightened, I never use a leave in or moisturize. I've never really seen a reason to...and don't necessarily think its necessary on the daily...
*shrug* My hair is curly most of the time tho...and i just use V05...

Just moisturize your hair between visits if you want to. You've been a member here for years....I'm sure you know that there are plenty of good, light moisturizers out there...

As a sidenote, I used to only use serums or oil sheen and wrap my hair between visits. My hair was healthy overall, but I always had to get my split ends trimmed and I stayed at shoulder length (or shorter). A good deep conditioner can help some people's hair stay moisturized between visits, but do these good, experienced hair stylists have long hair? Do the majority of their clients have long hair? If not, I would go with my own gut and moisturize my ends daily or at least every other day.

::When I wear my hair straight, I don't moisturize. I use a bit of oil sheen, serum, or coconut oil every few days. But now that I know serum does not prevent reversion, I'm kicking it to the curb and sticking to oil and oil sheen.

Even when I'm not wearing it straight, I don't think daily moisturizing is necessary. But you know your hair best and you should do what's best for your hair.

I know EXACTLY what you mean 4mia! I think it's because they want you to come back every 2 weeks when your hair starts breaking and looking dull from being so damn dry...
