Why can\'t all of my hair feel like the first

2 inches? That part is so soft, silky and healthy right now. It is b/c it is only 1 week after a touch up and thisis my first wash. How can I keep this part of my hair like this so that eventually all of my hair will feel like this?

Do you mean that the rest of the hair is underprocessed ? If you do no want to apply relaxer on that part maybe lots of hot oil pretreatment and lots of good moisture may help?

No I mean that the first two inches are healthier b/c it hasnt gone through the same abuse from blowdryers, etc. like the rest of my hair.

Change habits. Start taking care of your hair giving it plenty of moisture and conditioning. Cut down on the heat, and gradually trim the older overly abused hair away. As long as you take care of the new hair as it grows and trim away the old, you will ultimately reach your goal of having a nice healthy head of hair.

But, I dont even use heat that much... only after my retouch. The other hair doesn't look bad at all. It looks perfectly healthy after my roller sets. But, when it is wet and then air dried straight the first 2 inches are silky smooth and the rest isnt damaged looking it just isnt as nice. I guess it's hard to explain, but do u know what i mean?

I kind of get what you mean, my hair does this with airdrying, I cant relly explain it right. All I know is that as soon as I stopped using the blow dryer it all looked better, aslo just make sure to that your ends are well moisturised. The hair closer to the scalp usualy seems to feel better because its still moist abd hasen't dried out like the rest of your hair. I don't know if this helps, I agree with so1913 as well.

I know what you mean and my hair is natural! The first 2" or so ia silky and shiny. then from there my frizzies start!
go figure!

My hair is the same way. I am relaxed and I don't use heat AT ALL. Only after I get a touch-up and that is only 4 times a year. I know my hair is healthy but it also doesn't look very smooth after airdrying. I don't know what the explanation is, but I don't really care as long as I know it IS healthy.

I think thats why so many people hate airdrying..it takes a while to master and you have to find the right products for your hair. It really does decieve a lot of people into thinking their hair might be damaged when its really not. I have been air drying for years and I have my good and bad days. So dont worry
