i took at least 50-11 blurry pictures before i finally got the idea to tweak with my settings. and even then, it wasn't too much easier. i set my camera on close-up and it had the nerve to tell me: "focus too far!" "focus too close!" tecnology, gtfowtbs, fuhreal.

but i'm getting the hang of it.

anyway! it has been at least a month since my BC! i can definitely tell my hair is growing - my tennis ball hair is a lot fuller than I first began and i can run my fingers through my hair; what i do is stick my hand in my hair, and then squeeze my fingers together. i can do that now with hair to spare, something i couldn't do a month ago! :yep: i am addicted to playing in my curls, too.

that stuff on my face is a lemon+sugar scrub. :look: :lick:

my head looks vaguely alien-shaped here. :perplexed

what's weird though, and i'm hoping this fixes itself with length, is that some parts of my hair aren't defined at all. some clearly form tiny curls and coils while some refuse to be assimilated. this goes away a little when my hair is wet, but not by much. oh, well. still love my 'do.

Lovin the curlies! I have attempted to take my own as well, and I failed BIG TIME. LoL, I think I got 1 good shot out of about 20, I gave up after that.:wallbash:

Thanks, Mahogany!

I wondered if it was worth the effort. I can definitely appreciate the women who have fotki's chock-full of photos now. Especially texture shots.

I think it's best to get someone else to take your pictures. My brother took all of mine. It's hard to take good pictures of your own hair.

Your hair looks cute.

I thought about that, but it's 3 in the morning here.

Thanks, ladies. :yep:

And country, your sig looks pretty! I love the natural inspo album in your fotki!

Is that the same length as in your siggy? Looks kinda differnt but beautiful either way. I love your edges too...wish I had some...

My siggy is the day of my BC and the barber picked my whole head out, so my curls (when wet) were muuuuuch smaller. :yep:

And at first I was thinking, "How can you not have edges?" I use castor oil on mine and I have these little patches on my temples that are so much thinner than the rest of my head. It's hereditary, but I rub on some castor oil every few days and I feel as though they're really starting to thicken up! I highly suggest it!

Cute hair! I like your shots. It really does take forever to get a good tex shot. I got some clear ones yesterday but the last time I got a good set was over 2.5 years ago back when I BC'd .

Also, co-sign on castor oil. I used it when I BC'd and had thin patches too. I'm not sure if it's a growth aid but I do feel it allowed that area to thicken up in some way.

Your hair is so cute.
I feel the same way about taking photos. I am 9 months into my transition and have about 5 photos to show for it. LOL.
I truly give credit to those who have documented their progress thoroughly because it is hard to get the correct pictures.

girl that was one thing i loved about being natural, my edges. and for some reason, they stayed smooth, unlike now that i'm relaxed.

IA, taking pictures is hard for me too. I'd like to step it up (and post some).

Your hair looks nice.

Your hair is so nice. And not to be weird but I really like the shape of your head! It's very graceful.

Thanks, Mahogany!

Yeah, texture shots are hard! I've only successfully managed a handful in 2 years. But styling shots will be much easier. You have a lovely texture, btw.

I had that same problem with my pictures when I tried to take close ups of my growth from braids during the summer. They were blurry. I think I managed to get 2 or 3 that were just ok. I need to put them in my fokti. Btw. I love your hair. Too cute.

What made you try again 2.5 years later?

I'm not too sure on the status of castor oil, either, but I'm far from complaining. I used it when I was relaxed too for sorry attempts at braidouts and to lay my edges. It gave great, soft hold. I did a mini-stretch once and would use JBCO and a scarf and when I woke up the next day, I had waaaaves for daaaays, even on my relaxed hair. And it defines my curls and tames my edges perfectly!

I made sure I bought the big bottles after that. :yep:

Fotki's like SEMO's and Pokahantas (and others I can't recall) amaze me simply because they have so MANY.

I couldn't even last for ten-fifteen minutes before I decided the handful I had was enough. And they've got the nerve to have 100+ ? It must be a skill, I'm thinking.

Aw, thank you. That makes me feel a bit better about my dome.

I wonder why that is. I didn't like my relaxed edges because I could never get the flat iron right up on them and they were so thin, I didn't want to touch them. :perplexed

I adore my edges now.

Same here. I really want to be able to document my journal and share it with others. And you're only as good as your pictures around here, so. . . yep.

Your curls are to die for. :yep:
Gracias.

Thanks.

I think styling shots will be fun, once I get there. I LOVE seeing thick, luscious twists. I need some of my own. :lick:

Your hair looks beautiful! :yep: I agree taking texture shots is hard.
Thank you. :)

Beautiful!! Taking pictures are hard. I gave up 3 years ago.
If your hair is anything like your daughters, I think you should take more!

Maybe there's an anti-motion setting you can use? Mine blurs when it's too close (out of focus) or when I shake a lot. Fiddle with your settings. :yep:

And thanks!

LOL. My SO takes my shots for me, and we always have to do 3 or 4 (or 9 or 10 :look:) texture shots to be able to adequately see it. In most shots you can't even tell I have hair, it's so dark . I love your hair. The curls are beautiful.
