Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time?

I noticed on another post that one other memeber will be trying Affirm for the first time in a couple of weeks. I decided that I'm going to relax at the 3 month mark, which is approx. 2 weeks from now.

Those of you who are trying one of the Affirm Relaxers for the first time, I would love to read about your results. I will post mine too on the 26 or 27th of this month.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time?

IMO Affirm Relaxers straighten my hair too straight. It makes it limp and lifeless. I am not fond of this relaxer.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time?

I had my second one applied about 2 months ago. No problems so far. No abnormal shedding or dryness. It was straight but that was the purpose for me. Still full and swinging.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

I've use the Affirm mild lye relaxer since April. I touch up every 8 weeks. The stylist applies it fast ands rinses as soon as the last section is combed through, so the chemical is in my hair no more than 7-10 minutes. My scalp STILL starts to tingle in that span of time, regardless of how fast he is. The relaxed hair makes ringlets airdried but can also be straightened completely by way of a rollerset. It's limp enough that I could never fro it again even if I wanted to.

I can't compare it to other lye relaxers,as this is the only one I've ever used. My advice is to use the MILD lye or even the Fiberguard if that's milder and you can find a stylist who applies it. My stylist refuses to use anything stronger than mild on his clients.

Thanks for the reply. I have already purchased the Fiberguard, and I will apply it myself. Everytime I go to a salon, I end up with scab scalp. That doesn't happen when I apply it. What your stylist does is not a bad idea. I might give this a try, just to make sure I avoid any damage. I've switched from no-lye yo lye in the past, but I am a litle nervous this time. I think the reason is because I'm just getting my hair back into shape, and I used permanent colour in my hair on June 7th. I'm becoming overprotective of my tresses.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

I'm not a big fan of affirm, I think their relaxers are on the strong side. I loooove MIZANI mild. It is so gentle. From application to rinsing my scalp doesn't even tingle and my hair comes out evenly processed. I also noticed dramatic improvement in the health of my hair. It's not as dry. For me it's Mizani for life!!!!!

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

I will be trying affirm relaxer for the first time myself around the middle of next month. I will you know how it turns out.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

I'm anxious to know everyone's results with the Affirm relaxer. I've been dying to try it, so I'll have to scour the websites to see where I can buy it for less than $50.00! Please post if you have any ideas and do post regarding the results!

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

i am VERY VERY pleased with the sensitive scalp affirm relaxer. This was the first time that I received a relaxer in 4 months so it was basically like I was getting a virgin relaxer. I did not burn or anything and my hair is very nice and not too dry. I have tried mizani before but my hair HATES their products.

... I put in the Affirm Lye FiberGuard relaxer yesterday! My hair looks so good today. I let it air dry, and it was still a little wet , when I went to bed. But today ... I'm embarressed to say, I kept looking at it in the mirror

There's a new picture in my album, but my hair is still wet in it, and it's not a very nice picture, However, you can see my "bra strap" progress.

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time?

Hey, I just did my hair yesterday tom using Affirm Fiberguard mild scalp. And it is the BOMB!!! The key goal for me is to still keep my hair thick because I don't like bone straight hair. Affirm Fiber guard mild leaves you slightly wavy so it really doesn't Relax your very straight. But as long as my hair is manageable and soft, I am defintely planning to use Fibergaurd forever. All I have to do is try to buy on my own becausr honestly its very expensive.I have no problem with it because it's worth it but since I am in school and paying tuition it goes over my budget. To all to all Longhairlover friends, where can I get Affirm Fiberguard relaxer? Do I have to order it from Sheeldez. I heard they are very expensive!

Re: Who\'s Trying Affirm Relaxer For The First Time

Yesterday, I got my first relaxer in 11 months. My stylist used Affirm Mild/Regular, I had never used this one before and since it had been so long it was all virgin hair. Then I had it roller set. It looks perfect and feels amazing, I have to wait to see if it has any ill effects like breakage or shedding but for now it's on my love list.
