Who was it on here that used heat with a relaxer??

The comb is stuck.
I remember someone posting about using a plastic cap while their relaxer was on and they got good results. I was just wondering if the person still does it and if the results are still good. Some salons here sit people under the dryer with it so I'd heard of it before , but will never try it.

What could possibly be the benefit?

That was me, and the results are still good. Some relaxers are heat activating, meaning that they heat up once applied. Notice how sometimes your forehead may sweat when getting a relaxer?

CrownnGlori, to answer your question, the benefit is that it the cap holds the heat, thus breaking down the bonds faster, thus REDUCING the time needed to relax the hair.

This is an option, and if you're scared to do it or don't see the point, then don't. This is the way my stylist has always done it, and my hair has never come out underprocessed or overprocessed. Just my personal experience.

Edited to add: To make this EXTRA clear, no, I didn't sit under a dryer or apply heat to my hair when the relaxer was applied. On the other hand, there was one member that warmed up a towel and applied it for a few minutes and reported great results. If you don't see the point or will never try it, what's the point to even creating this post. Yes, I'm annoyed.

I was gonna say, if the instructions don't say that, I would not do it.

I know lot's of people here use conditioners that are meant to be rinsed out as leave-in's but if the instructions say rinse, I rinse.

I kinda like to follow the instructions. Cause if there's problems I know I did what I was supposed to do.

Heat with a relaxer is kinda asking for trouble if it's not one of the steps.

Didn't mean to offend. There are plenty of things that others do that I wouldn't. Just trying to understand.
I have have never seen a heat activated relaxer. I thought you sweat because its a caustic chemical being applied to your scalp and basically you have a science lab on your head for 30mins.

Apologies again.

I admit to getting defensive about this...I read it fast and took it out of context. But in nature, the relaxer is activated by your body heat. I did an experiment in which I took some my shedded hair and applied some relaxer to it for 10 - 15 mins to see what would happen, and the results sucked compared to when the relaxer's on your head (the heat from the scalp is what "activates" the relaxer, so to speak...Hopefully, the relaxer isn't being applied to the scalp, and in my case, it isn't. In addition, I've done a bunch of research that supports my claim.

But enough about this. I'm not offended, you're cool

Actually it wasn't you I was talking about it was Raven from DSD's post.

I put down in my post that I wouldn't do it because I didn't want anyone to bother asking me if I was asking for that reason. Don't get defensive, it's all love on here.
