as a regular scalp oil, and not as directed? I was thinking about giving this a try, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had good results doing this.

I used this daily last summer and my hair was moisturized, shiny and strong. I like this one better than amla because it has other things in it that are beneficial to the hair's health.

You use their Amla oil too don't you? I haven't applied it to my scalp yet, because it has mineral oil in it. How do you use the Amle ... just as a pre-shampoo treatment? I have used it for that, but nothing else yet. I'd like to get some pure amla oil and add it to someone else.

Yes, as a pre-shampoo treatment. I sometimes leave it on for about an hour and a half with my heatcap and then rinse and shampoo wih Vatika Henna Cream Conditioning Shampoo. I do this with both Amla and Vatika hair oils and sometimes with Brahmi hair oil, though I haven't used it as much. Though there is some Brahmi in the Vatika oil, as well as Neem.
I don't think that Vatika oil has any mineral oil in it. It's not listed on my ingredients.

As for Amla not being used as a deep conditioning treatment: sometimes when I get my hair done at a salon, the next day I add a little bit of Amla oil to my hair to give it shine and fragrance. I use it to give myself a head massage and to moisturize my hair.

@Britt: these oils strengthen the hair and give it a rich shine and helps to keep the hair healthy.

In the Vatika Oil there are three things:

Henna, along with other herbs, coats your hair, protects it from oxidation, maintaining its natural colour.

Amla strengthens the roots of your hair, to help maintain its health and natural thickness.

The astringent action of Lemon controls sebum flow, helping to prevent dandruff.

I have a couple of questions:

Where do you purchase this oil? What is the regular price for it? I found a site that sells it in a can

, is that how it is normally packaged. I think the prices were between $3 - $5 for the various oils. Has anyone tried the coconut oil? I have 4b relaxed and I am always looking for away to moisturize.

I love this product but mine is taking up shelf space. I got a little frustrated with getting hte oil out the bottle. I like th eold glass bottles it used to come in.

I used to use it as a regular hair oil and got phenomenal results. I remember it making my hair very soft.

I loved that shampoo. I just haven't been back to the Indian Gorcery Story. I will though. I just found a person who does threading and her shop is a couple doors down from the grocery store.

To get the oil out in an efficient way, I let the closed bottle sit in the sink under some hot water (same as when monoi oil is shipped)

I also get mine at an Indian, Afghani, or Pakastani grocery. I purchase the large bottle (300mL is the biggest I've seen so far) for $3-4. The little ones (150mL) are $2.99 so you may as well buy the large one because they're, in some stores, the same price for some reason. You may also buy it in the can, but I'm not sure as to why it comes that way.

For rinsing it out, I've found the best shampoo is the one I listed in a previous post. I leave it on for about a minute and then rinse.
