Who relaxes every 12 weeks (3 months)...

I'm like you. I have newgrowth at 6 weeks but it's definitely not enough to justify a touch-up. It's like 1 1/2 pen curls + 1 wave (that's how I measure new growth).

I can get that straight with a roller set.

Before the forum, I would relax 6-8 weeks faithfully. I am proud to say that my last touch-up was April 9! I have braids in right now. I was on vacation last week and had them put in. There are fuzzy looking already. My hair has grown a tiny bit so they aren't tight anymore, I hope that is a good sign. I am ready to take the braids out already. I get bored easily. I am going to Sesame Place with my daughter this weekend so I am keeping them in. I have a party to attend on 7/24 so that will be the week I touch-up for the first time since 4/9. I am so excited to see how much my hair has grown. I am very nervous since I have never done this before. If all goes well, I will stick to stretching out. I wonder if there is anything special I should do before going for the touch-up?

DITTO, I also measure my newgrowth by the amount of waves.

The longest i've gone without texturizing is little over 4 months. i'm limiting touch-ups to twice a year only with the aid of braids, conditioner washes and protein treatments.

Evanne, alot of people deep condition with either a mild or heavyk-duty protein treatment the wash before a relaxer, then follow up with a good moisturizing conditioner and leave-in.

I relaxe every 12 weeks I started that when I came to the forum, I actually didn't think I'd be able to wait that long because of the thickness and texture of my hair, but I did and I got good results. So from now on it's 12 weeks no more 6 to 8 wks.

I relax every 9-12 weeks depending on how much newgrowth I have. I've been doing this for the past three years and my hair loves it. I like the fact that I'm minimizing the amount of chemicals that are put in my hair. I use to get a retouch every four weeks and I believe that contributed to my hair thinning out. Its doing a whole lot better since I began stretching out the relaxer plus its less expensive and less of my time at the shop.
