...and how do you let it dry?

It's so funny because I used to be the master of wet wrap sets back before I went natural. Now that I'm relaxed/texturized again, it's like I don't know how to act. I think it's because my hair is much thicker now.

Anyway...tips and suggestions are appreciated

I used to wrap set my hair. Now I do rollersets or Doobie wraps. When I used to wet wrap set my hair, I would use setting lotion and a little gel then take a rat tail comb and comb my hair around my head, starting at the crown. I would make sure it was very smooth so it would be smooth when it dried. Then I would sit under the dryer until it was completely dry (45 min. to an hour). After it dried, I would put some oil on my hair, then comb it down.

Man I've never been able to do wet wrap sets, I used to be jealous of people who could do them. My sophomore roomate used to do them, I wanted to sooo badly. I don't even contemplate trying them now that I am texturized, my hair is much thicker than it was when I relaxed it straighter.

I wrap my hair wet every week faithfully. I have relaxed hair type 4a and I wrap my hair wet once a week and dry wrap my hair every night before going to bed. I have mastered the art of my own hair. I hate my hair to feel hard and stiff. I love movement and shine and wraps seem to provide that without having to worry about alot of heat.
This is what I do:
*Immediately after my wash/condition regimine I use a leave in conditioner ( Redken extreme, or Sheenique wearable treatment <---no longer on the market

)
*Then I spray in elasta silk thermal designing liquid <--the absolute best
*Then I put in just a little proclaim glossing polish
* and last but not least just a little Profectiv strengthener.
*I make sure that I have a spray water bottle handy filled with warm water to keep my hair sopping wet as i wrap. It'll help keep hair manageable.
* Wrap hair in the direction that I you want you hair or bangs to fall towards. I wrap to my right using a wide tooth comb.
* Occasionly I spray the warm water as I feel my hair drying.
* I pay close attention to the crown of my head to make sure that the hair here stays flat or it will dry curly which you dont want in this hairstyle! Some people put two- three large rollers here but that never works for me.
* Once hair is wrapped around the head, gently use a small toothed comb to smooth out the wrap. USE THE SMALL TOOTHED COMB ONLY TO SMOOTH OUT THE WRAP DO NOT USE IT TO WRAP THE ENTIRE HEAD!!
* Lastly Ill smooth just a little profective around the entire style to give it that glossy finish
* I use wrapping paper to secure the style. I dont use bobby pins because i dont like the indentations
* Either Ill sit under the dryer for two hours or sit under the dryer for one hour and wrap my hair with a silk scarf until dry or skip the dryer all together and just wrap the wet hair under the scarf. This method usually takes about one good nights sleep to dry
* When the hair is dry I comb the style out and may use a ceramic flat iron to finish the style. This is not necessary however.

Good luck! It has kept my hair healthy and is a great alternative to heat styles!

I wish I had some pictures of my hair I have to get someone to take them for me. I love wrapping my hair because it alows me to wear my hair down without all the heat of blow drying and curling. My hair is extremely healthy... and growing at an alarming rate thanks to this board. If I must say if you wrap your hair with care it is a great option to take the stress of stying off your hair!
