Who Hates Hair Day?

Today is my "hair day" - the day I dedicate to shampooing, conditioning and styling my hair. Actually, my hair day was supposed to be several days ago, but I have been procrastinating. The thought of spending hours between washing, deep conditioning, detangling, moisturizing and styling all of this thick type 4 hair is not something I'm looking forward to right now. I've been getting by with headwraps for the past several days.

Does anyone else put off or not look forward to their "hair day"?

I hate hair day. Especially when it happens the same week that i touched up, which just so happens to be this week. My "hair day" happens every friday and i hate going thru all this again so soon when it seems like i just did it 4 days ago when i touched up. I'm gonna start shampooing this morning around 10 - 10:30 though, that way i can just get it over with already.

The only time I put off "hair day" is when my blowout still looks good but I know I need to wash my hair.

Other than putting it off I never hate my "hair day"; although it's a long process it's always my time to inspect the condition of my hair.

I haven't figured out what to do with my hair after airdrying other than doing a bun so I think that's the only thing I hate about the "day after hair day"

I LOVE hair day!!!! I've always loved washing my hair, but now with all the extra knowledge from LHCF, hair day has become even better... i get to pamper my hair and give it the attention it should get EVERYDAY!!!

I'm with you options. And with another thick head of all natural hair with my daughter, I have to do 2 heads. I'm seriously thinking about relaxing again. Because I can't style worth a flip.

I absolutely love hair day!!!!!!

I always get a kick out of washing my hair and getting it really clean and then conditioning it. And the best part is the detangling part:):) I know I'm sick:)

Wow ... I can't believe some of y'all enjoy it. I mean, I guess I could look at it as self-pampering, but it would be easier to feel that way someone else were doing all the work. LOL ...

I have a daughter, too. She's only 4 months now, but I know I'll be in for it in the not so distant future. She already has a headful of Afro-esque curls and likes getting her hair moisturized and combed.

Although I love my hair when it is done, I never cared for "doing hair". I hate hair day. There are so many things I would rather do. I do it because I have to, in order to have thick growing healthy hair -- not because I love the process.

Oh I'll postpone it for a month. Lately I've just Surged and added coconut oil with applicator tipped bottles in the shower before rebraiding my braided bun and going to work.

It's SUCH a hassle to take the bun down, detangle it before and after washing in braided sections, and fume over the resulting shed hair ball.

That's 2-4 hour process, depending on the tangles.

Hey options,

you know I really hate when someone else does my hair. I do not like going to salons and what I hate the most is when they comb - or let me say, when they try to comb - my hair. I've never come across a stylist that knew how to untangle or comb my hair the way I like it. So I usually just say "that's ok" and grab a comb:)

I don't like sylists either. So I bit the bullet and do it myself ... and pretty much have done my hair on the solo tip for the past 10 years. The few times I have gone to a stylist, they pulled out small, fine toothed combs and raked through my hair. And even this so-called natural hair stylist, she once put cornrows in my hair so tight, my hairline suffered damage that took months to recover from.

I am starting to get like this. To cut back on time I have been deep conditioning my hair (damp) the night before my "hair day" , that way I don't have to worry about deep conditioning on hair day, instead I just hop in the shower, rinse my hair and then shampoo and I'm ready to rollerset.
I just started this new regimen, I hope that it works out well. One thing that I have noticed is that my hair is much softer after I rinse and shampoo which is a good thing for me

I'm going to try conditioning BEFORE washing next hair day.

What I have been doing is applying my hot oil before I wash. I then clean my house. Whan I'm done, I hop in the shower and wash my hair. I also condition my hair in the shower. While the conditioner is sitting in my hair, I clean the bathtub. I rinse the conditioner out, detangle, and finish up my shower. Sure its a long a$$ shower but I'm tired of hopping in and out of the shower, under the dryer, blah blah blah....

But nope...I don't hate hair day...I daydream about what products I'm going to use on my next wash....

I love hair day. If it wasn't for 3 months of new growth, I'd be back to daily washes

I actually look forward to hair day. Can't wait to play (I mean shampoo and condition) with my hair!

I love hair day too - sometimes I wash my hair 3 times in a week (rollerset and all)....

My family and friends always laugh at me.

"Washing your hair again, huh Tracy?"

I used to dread hair day when I was relaxed b/c I had to do so much to get my hair salon perfect. It was so time consuming. No wonder I only did it every 2 weeks.

Now I love hair day which is every day for the most part and a little more extensive on deep conditioner days.

I don't like it and that's prolly why I only wash it once a week and I just do that in the shower (shampoo condition and back in the bun for another week).

Another reason I hate washing is because I lose hair and I don't like looking at it in the bottom of the sink rather than on my head

I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love thinking about and planning the products of choice but I hate when I get to the end and don't know how to style it.

I look forward to hair day in general. But lately, as my newgrowth continues to spring from my scalp, it's becoming more of a chore

I actually like the shampooing and conditioning--I love when my hair and scalp feel all clean and tingly and stuff. It's just the detangling...oh lawd the detangling. I've been using Surge and a serum to help and it's going well (I've really cut down on the amount of hair lost during detangling) but it still takes ages. The problem is that afterwards I have to decide what to do as far as drying it. By the time I've done all that detangling I don't feel like taking even LONGER to blowdry, but I know if I airdry I'll have to deal with more breakage and tangling during the week and will have to wash again in like 3 days. I just ordered a new ionic ceramic dryer and a straightening brush from metrobeauty which should be here next week. Hopefully they will help my drying time go faster.
I DO love doing pretreatments though. I dunno why. Something about wearing a plastic cap makes me happy

*** Update -- I started shampooing at 1:10 this afternoon and was officially finished with hair day at 2:30pm. Since i touched up on Monday, today i did a deep protein conditioning and followed that up with a regular deep conditioning. Then blowdried and applied some oil sheen and greased my scalp -- yes i said greased my scalp
laugh.gif
Then applied Profectiv to my ends and pulled my hair back into a bun. I'm done until next week friday

so long suckas!!!!! j/k

I LOVE "hair day", the more progress I see the more excited I am to do all of my shampooing, conditioning, etc.

The thing I hate most about Hair Day is having to hop in and out of the shower for the various conditioning stages. Yuck!

I HATE hair day too. Only because I'm texturized and I can usually just wash and go, so I'm use to that ease. But I do like a more sophisticated style at least a few days out of the week, i.e. rollerset, and now it has become a chore for me to take the time to do it, even though I LOVE the results...
