WHO ELSE IS GROWING OUT UNDERPROCESSED HAIR?

I've decided not to proceed with the corrective relaxer for the underproceesed areas of my hair, in fear of causing irrepairable damage or even hair loss. Those of you who are in the same predictment what are you planning to do? What products are you using to help with detangling? Are you wearing any protective styles to prevent manipulation/breakage of the differing textures?

And no, i'm not transitioining, but i will wait 6 months before self-relaxing on the newgrowth, then cut the ends off, according to how much growth, I'm using Robin's method to accomplish this, so i can keep the length.

Following the advice from my last thread: stay texturized/go relaxed: it really helped when i rinsed my hair a few days ago in six braids and added some le-kair cholesterol and detangled with a wide tooth comb (my niece helped) my hair is really soft after adding my profectiv breakfree and lots of s-curl. I'd like to say thank-you all for the great advice

Hi Den,

I have a patch in the front that is slightly underprocessed (I texturized a little over 2 weeks ago). I also do not intend to do anything with it at the moment. I will be getting my first touch-up in November, at which time I will decide if I want to get that section reprocessed. I think I will go for it because it is getting more and more curly as I continue to CW

I have worn only wash & go's since texturizing.

How underprocessed is your hair? Does it have a noticeably different texture/shrinkage factor? I don't think you should have much of a problem if you maintain the hair with techniques you learned while natural

Gentle detangling, minimal manipulation, plenty of moisture. I am also a big cholesterol fan!

I am still looking for a good detangling conditioner, although I am beginning to believe that it is really just a matter of technique. Last night I noticed that after I used Nexxus Keraphix followed by Suave Awapuhi and Sta-Sof-Fro, my hair was softer than it has been since getting it done.

i'm a fan of cholesterol too, and i love sta-sof-fro.
My hair is very underprocessed in the middle section at the back, and shows noticeable shrinkage and tangles, when i had it corrected the first time it seemed that my entire head had processed well, a couple of weeks later, my textures began to revert. my ends are curly like your hair, two stylists i went to really gave me a very inconsistent result from a relaxer, i even recently noticed a straighter section. I will post pictures next week. even though my hair is healthy, there is absolutely nothing else i can do but grow it out

with braids, do cw to keep it soft. After I reach my waist length goal in six months, i will gradually cut away the underprocessing, and texturize on the newgrowth only.

Whatever you do, don't mess around with it too much.

Are you going to do the CWes while it's in braids?

Hi tracy, yes, i will be doing all my CWs whilst i'm in braids, as too much manipulation will inevitably lead to breakage.
