I knew Phyto was a mild relaxer, but I didn't know it was quite mild: I relaxed with Index 2 this past weekend and used a table spoon and a half of EVOO and mixed it with the relaxer creme, and my hair came out very underprocessed (I left it in for 35 minutes, maybe I should've left it in longer, but since it was my first offical self-relax, and it was burning a little, I didn't want to risk over-processing my hair, so I rinsed it out after 35 minutes.)
As I've learned, since Phyto is very mild, I would not recommend mixing any oil with it.
dang! so no one did not, not like Phytospecific Phytorelaxer. I feel a little chicken this morning. I'm feeling like I should go back to my old sexual harrassing hair dressing to let him pop in an affirm. If it ain't broke don't try and fix it, right?
I didn't like phyto, IMO the results were not worth the price. It takes forever to neutralize and my hair was consistently dry afterwards. I've been using ORS and I think I'm going to stay with it.
I tried the Index 1 twice and both times reeeeally didn't care for the result; my hair felt like it wanted to snap--but it was also so underprocessed oddly enough. The first time I did it myself (which I absolutely never normally do, but wanted to "play" for a change); the 2nd time I had my hairdresser do it.
I'd use this only if I wanted to do something more like a texlax. I didn't try Index 2 because I just wasn't impressed with anything about it. Went back to my usual Affirm and haven't looked back.
I wouldn't recommend adding oil. Also I think you definitely need to spend some serious time smoothing if you want straight hair. Otherwise you will certainly end up with texturized/texlaxed hair.
